How useful is diamond without sub/activation

Just wondering if the Diamond can be used as a typical pda without Sprint phone Activation... I'm assuming Wifi works still... does GPS? Seems like it would be a great mp3/wifi internet/video/youtube/xmonline/a2dp/gps... etc.. device

Re: How useful is diamond without sub/activation

I think it would be pretty useful. yes, gps, wifi, and bluetooth will still work.

Some apps, like tomtom7 will not be able to use gps when the device is in flight mode, so you will have to leave bluetooth on probably to get a fix... I use my old touch (vogue) as a tomtom exclusively. I have it set up so that mortscript handles turning on bluetooth, tomtom, and rotating the screen at startup.

I think that it will definitely be a useful device, more useful than my old vogue, since the touch diamond has wifi.

I think GPS would still work but you don't get AGPS.

This is correct. In my experience, my vogue, which has no data connection, still gets gps locks pretty easily inside my car. Inside buildings, you will be almost 100% not able to get a gps fix like you probably can with the data connection active. I don't know if there is a difference between the actual gps hardware between the touch and touch diamond though.

Re: How useful is diamond without sub/activation

I think it is mostly the same as it works about like on my old Mogul I used to have. I would say that it'll take a while but eventually it will get a lock.
