Re: Alltel Data Speeds
Well I called Alltel and they said in my area I should be seeing 400-500k download speeds from the phone and 1-1.5m tethering.
But noone could tell me why mine was so slow so after 30 min of this person and that person they asked what ROM version I had on my phone! CRAP! I didnt want to tell them ugh...Mighty's. and I know if I had of they would have said that was my problem so Im flashing the stock ROM right now and then Im gonna call them back. |

when you get back on the shipped rom and call back, make sure they check your data settings particularly ask them to check and make sure your device is rev a enabled. Its on the device for sure, with sprint you can get it using ##786#, enter unlock code, data parameters but Alltel is different. they should know how to guide you into settings to determine this. Good luck. by the way, here is the speedtest.net result for me did a few times but this one is the best one. http://www.speedtest.net/result/483477149.png |
Re: Alltel Data Speeds
I just got off the phone with them and they were little help. 50min on the phone with them and pretty much all they did was check my ROM and PRL version which was fine. The guy was pretty nice though and got my email and said he would keep checking and msg me if he came up with anything, he also gave me HTC USA tech support number and said to call them and see if they could figure out anything.
Riley I didnt get your message till I hung up already. I dont know Alltels code and not sure Id know what to look for if I did. I get a revA icon in the taskBar but I dont know if thats what Im recieving for sure. The guy from Alltel got on a Diamond with me on the phone and went to that site and ran 4 tests and he got a 5xx, 4xx, 72, 582. I really wish he hadnt got that 72kbps. Ifr anyone knows how to check what Rileys talkin bout let me know |
Re: Alltel Data Speeds
my data speeds are very inconsistent, at times it can be up to 500kb/s, others 100, others as low as 28 haha, working on trying to find a good spot in my house with decent speeds

Re: Alltel Data Speeds
I just tested mine with the 1MB speed test from Opera and got 833 kbit/sec with 1 bar in Houston on RevA. I have the stock radio 1.03.13F. I'm not sure about the tethering.

Tethering
http://www.speedtest.net/result/484118738.png Phone only @ DSLReports In IE - The best I got was 1759kb/s, and the worst I got was 1536kb/s out of 5 tries on the 1MB test. Not too shabby :) In Opera - The best I got was 1253kb/s, and the worst I got was 818kb/s. (That's sort of disappointing considering I like Opera a lot more :-P) Benchmarks obtained running Mighty ROM 4R3BORN, and the Telus 1.04.05V Radio. |
Re: Alltel Data Speeds
I went to my sons baseball game last night and thought Id try another test over there. Its just across town, maybe 5-7 milesfrom my house. with the exact same signal (revA with 2-3 bars) all my results were over 500 and the best was 982. Kinda makes me wonder if it may not be a tower issue with wichever tower Im hitting while at my house.

Re: Alltel Data Speeds
Here is something to try. ##33284 (##DEBUG) and send. This will load up Field Trial. Click on left Soft Key, and go to HDR, there is a line there. "Requested Data Rate" this will tell you how fast it is requesting the signal and everything. play with that some, download the file and look at the debug file and see what you notice or anything liek that.
I am on an EVDO/1X area right now, and I am able to send request up to 1222 KB/S, so that will give you an idea. give it a shot and see if it works for you guys has well. |

Nevermind it was the Black slide to answer dialer I had installed.
I removed it and it worked like you said it would. |
