Re: Radios and Best Locations(32 Cities Listed!!!)

I'm using the Telus 1.04.05V radio w/ Sprint service here in San Francisco, CA -- working pretty well so far.

I first tried the new sprint 1.11.00f but it caused my phone to stop working almost entirely, data connection speed went to nearly nothing. Maybe it was a fluke though, I may try it again later.

Re: Radios and Best Locations(35 Cities Listed!!!)

I just flashed to Telus and now I'm getting 2-4 bars more than before......where you ask.....OVERLAND PARK, KS!!!!! Right here in Sprints back yard and Telus is far better than stock.

Re: Radios and Best Locations(35 Cities Listed!!!)

downriver, mi. telus 1.04.05v or stock sprint 1.00, the new sprint 1.11 is jumping all over from 1-4 bar and jumping form ev-1x constantly.

All have about the same battery life, telus may be a bit better.

as a whole telus wins, just more consistant, 2-4 bars everywhere.... I never really drop below 2 bars, and almost constantly in evdo.

as far as dropped calls, they all are pretty good here. haven't dropped ant calls on any radios.

heat: telus is the coolest, then sprint 1.11, and then sprint stock is very warm, it gets the hottest, and when that happens.....bye bye battery...

hands down. the bell network over sucks here, and Telus has always been the first to make major changes to the network, and were the first to support the Diamond at all! I am just another loyal Bell customer, wishing I could get the same deals with Telus!

side note, first thing to do with any Bell phone, change the home SID/NID to telus, and keep the Bell towers as lower priority. Faster service, less dropped calls, and much better coverage.
+1 to telus in Toronto! Miles ahead of the others in battery life and signal.

Re: Radios and Best Locations(36 Cities Listed!!!)

Hi. I'm new to all this stuff, and what I'm understanding of all this is that I can flash a different carrier's radio onto my phone and everything'll work just fine? Or better!? Because Sprint's reception sucks for me at home in Michigan (in an area where Telus supposedly works best) and the only carrier that gets good reception on my college campus (Atlanta, GA) is Verizon. And my phone keeps on switching back and forth between 1X and EVDO when I'm in my apartment, and the battery drains SO quicky because of that.

So... do I just flash the carrier's radio ROM onto my phone? Is it actually THAT simple?

I live in Smyrna, and go to school in Buckhead. I upgraded to the new Sprint radio, and my reception in my apartment got worse. Calls wouldn't connect, and I sounded extremely static-y to my friends, my phone was mostly in 1X mode or switched back and forth. Battery life sucked.

I got pretty good reception with the original radio, but I just flashed Telus, and will tell you guys how it goes.
