From your dialer, without pressing SEND, dial ##778#
Choose Edit
Enter your lock code
Hit "View Info" in the bottom left
Select "Home SID/Home NID"
Tap and hold on each line to edit (you only need the first 2 or three)

Then, edit your SID/NID to the following

SID / NID
------------
17500/65535 - Telus Mobility East
16420/65535 - Bell Mobility
16422/65535 - Telus Mobility West

or, use this if you are in the West (different order, obviously)
16422/65535 - Telus Mobility West
16420/65535 - Bell Mobility
17500/65535 - Telus Mobility East

Save your changes, exit, and soft reset your phone. These changes will still be there even after rom upgrades. This does not require you to flash a new radio or anything fancy, but I still think the Telus radio is the best one to use in Canada.

Also, you will not incur any additional charges -- Telus and Bell have a free roaming agreement, and they both use each other's towers. All this does, is change the priority, and because there are more Telus towers in the GTA than Bell, it works out just fine.

Hey, I am in toronto, just updated to the telus radio from the stock bell one. I am trying to change the tower priority per the instructions above however when I click 'yes' to update my home sid (i.e. I have entered the new SID/NID), my phone resets, and the changes are not committed. running omj sense 2.5 2012 beta rom

any advice?

I had the same problem with my epst settings not sticking. i had to flash back to a stock rom, but right when it's counting down from 3 seconds to start customization i did a soft reset so it wouldn't go through it. i couldn't let it run through it because i would lose my metropcs service. but with the sprint stock rom i was able to make changes to my epst, saved them, then flashed the rom of my choice afterwards.
