FM Radio Antenna

I have a feeling this may have been a topic that has been beaten dead but i searched and didn't find much.

Is it possible to use the FM Radio w/o the headphones? Can something be modded to make it a smaller attachment?

Reasoning behind these questions was that I was all pumped to start using it as an alarm clock. I do enjoy listening to the radio in the morning because of weather, traffic and news. I would also bring my phone to the shower with me (not in!) so it would have to be more portable.

Any insight would help, thanks!
