Alltel Diamond- Will it work 100% in "non Alltel" region??

Hey guys (and gals),

I am looking to upgrade to the Alltel Touch Diamond. I currently have Alltel service, and I will be moving to New York in the very near future (where Alltel does NOT have service, but they roam on Sprint and Verizon).

Does anyone here think it would be unwise to buy an Alltel Diamond knowing that I will be using it in a "non Alltel" region for the next 2 years at least? Since Alltel will soon be Verizon after the merger, I presume I won't have a roaming icon at some point in time.

I'm just wondering if there would be an issue with having an "Alltel cellular radio" in a Verizon area? They both use the same cellular frequencies, I believe, so I don't think there should be a problem. Good reception and call quality is really important to me....

Also, would I be able to use Verizon Navigator?
