Proximity Sensor
As far as I know I dont think the Diamond has one, but it does have a capacitive sensor on the enter key of the dpad that lights up the circular LEDs and the Button LEDs when your finger gets within a millimeter of it.
Would it be possible to use this sensor to turn the screen on and off during a phone call? Like, when you press the phone against the side of your face could it would turn off the screen and when you remove it the screen comes on 2 or 3 seconds later. |
Re: Proximity Sensor
hmm... thats not a bad idea.. sounds like it could work although i'm not sure how accurate or easy the sensor is.. also, i'm not sure how easy it is to program the sensor to turn of the screen.. if all that is possible, i don't think it could be too hard.. maybe now that the deal is out there somone with more experience can try to do it? sounds like it would be very usefull tho!

Re: Proximity Sensor
I wish they made some sort of ambient light sensor that they could put right beside the speaker that would sense if the brightness of light goes down while you're on a call and turn off the screen.
Oh wait! |

Re: Proximity Sensor
I know about the ambient light sensor. From what ive seen on my phone its flakey at best. My screen dims and brightens every couple of seconds for no reason other than the sensor thinks it got brighten then darken when nothing changed in the room. Maybe a combination of both these sensors for better accuracy?
