Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

A seller on ebay is selling original OEM batteries with optional cradle (aftermarket cradle I believe, doesn't say)

Sprint CDMA HTC Touch Diamond Touch Pro GSM HTC Fuze OEM Li-Ion Battery 1346mAh + Cradle $39.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Sprint-Touch...1%7C240%3A1318

Another auction for just the battery $22.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-Battery-...1%7C240%3A1318

and addition of vehicle charger + battery $26.99

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sprint-Touch-Dia...1%7C240%3A1318

Batteries are OEM, talked tothe company directly, but I don't think the charger(car) and cradle are direct from HTC. I bought the battery alone. Just tryin to help a few ppl with frustrating battery issues such as me.

I think I'm gonna contact them to get a cradle alone, I already have to batteries and I swap them from my phone to get them charged. Kind of a pain.

Guys that battery says OEM Li-Ion Battery 1350mAh yet the original Sprint HTC Diamond is only 1340mAh so how can it be the same OEM battery?

Its not the same and IT IS NOT GOING to charge in your phone and will NOT show battery life but will work..But after market chargers should charge with no problem. That why i am needing one, that's not expensive and dosent come with 8 batteries..I just need a battery charger.

Re: Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

My bet (and I mean that literally, since I ordered one) is that the 1350 mha is a typo, and it really is an OEM 1340 mha battery. I've seen reviews of the phone that state it has a 1350mha battery, too, so it's a fairly common error. If it isn't an OEM battery, the seller is deliberately misrepresenting the product-- and since he has a pretty high feedback rating, that doesn't likely.

FWIW, I have a spare battery that I bought directly from HTC (that has a slightly different part number than the battery that came with the phone, BTW), and it cost almost exactly double what this ebay seller is asking.

I almost bought the cradle/battery yesterday but couldn't use the Live/eBay 25% off since they accept PayPal, but through a 3rd party checkout system.

I contacted the seller and they assured me that this battery will charge in the phone. I guess I will find out soon enough but they responded immediately to my question.

I'm gaining confidence that the batteries being sold are, indeed, the 1340 mha OEM. Mine has shipped and here's the page on them from the shipper's web website:

How are you going to charge it? While in the phone or do you have a separate charger?

tmc_adio07 11-12-2008 11:48 PM

Re: Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

Yeah I ordered mine an hour before I posted this, it sounds pretty legit to me, and I agree that it might be a typo. I'll post my results immediately once I receive the battery.

Probably both. I usually just plug the phone in, but I do have a docking station with a charging slot for a spare battery for those occasions when I need it. If the battery on order is indeed OEM, I expect no problems with it charging in the phone; if it's not, I expect to get my money back.:protest:

as soon as I get mine I will post results. I guess the two chargers that come with it are worth 25 bucks so I am not going to lose sleep over it.

I asked the seller about the battery mAh and his comment back was, "This is a listing error that we have become aware of and are working to correct. The mAh rating on the battery is in fact 1340mAh. Thank you for your comment."

Good Luck, I received My 2 Batteries and charger and while the batteries do work they will not show a battery level or charge on the phone, only with the included charger.

Please be specific, is this from THIS seller? If so then something is wrong, b/c the seller is obviously not selling the OEM battery for the Diamond/Pro.

good point, plus the the ebay auctions were for 3 different packages, but I don't recall them including 2 batteries and a charger.

Re: Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

The batteries I received look exactly like the real ones(same writing, part numbers) except both serial numbers are the same on both batteries. I don't think it is from the same vendor, but I would not buy batteries from ebay again. I purchased this kit based on positive responses from XDA Developers, but what I am thinking is that the US Touch Diamond and Touch Pro needs a specific chip(used to authenticate as OEM) in the battery pack to allow the unit to detect the battery level and to allow the phone to charge the battery.

Thats what I was thinking might be the case, China fakes everything now. I'm glad I didn't jump on this.

Just a heads-up, the user with the batteries holding the same serial numbers DID NOT buy his from the auction listed by the OP. So, basically assuming that the battery from the OP's posted auction are the same as the Chinese knock-offs another user purchased from a different eBayer is like assuming that because your 1974 Chevelle was a POS and broke down all the time, that a 2009 Camry would do the same thing.

My original Diamond battery was from China.

As I stated above the Batteries DO work, they just will not charge in the phone (only with the included charger) and show 1% battery life on the phone. Good for Backups, but not knowing how much battery life you have left is troublesome.

Re: Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

The battery monitor program that is included with the TC/GF kitchen will show battery life left on my aftermarket battery. It just won't register on the taskbar.

thanks for the info, Just a question since I am just not understanding your response. How do you charge the battery without it being in the phone unless you have a cradle which was in the first ebay bid? I dont see how they could sell a battery that cannot charge in the phone. sorry if I am not being clear, but I wanted to ask you this question.

Re: Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

Well, the naysayers were, infact, correct... the battery came. The part number ends 06M instead of 12M and the back of the batter does not look as my original battery. It doesn't read the battery meter and doesn't charge in the phone. I have contacted the seller to return the item as I specifically wanted an OEM battery. I should have waited until someone reported in.. but for those of you who did wait, I'm reporting!

Re: Need a spare OEM battery? $22.99

fake fake fake

I got my battery today and as I suspected it is fake. The front and sides look good (notice extra humps on the front though) but the back is a clear giveaway. If you're going to purchase a 3rd party battery that doesn't charge in the phone there is no reason to overpay for this when others are selling 3 for the same price. Now time to attempt to return.

Yup, looks like I lost the bet-- my battery arrived today, does not charge in the phone or show in battery meter. And, the serial number on my battery is identical to the serial number of the battery shown in the post above!

Time to ring somebodies chimes at the seller....

For those that purchased the desktop charging cradle, neither the stock battery nor the one purchased from these guys, fit in the slot in back so it's unusable. The phone does charge when in the cradle. All in all very disappointing. If I had known before purchasing that the seller was igonemobile, I never would have purchased it! I have had bad luck with these guys before. However, they are very good about accepting returns and crediting your account. We just have to pay for postage if package was opened. If package hasn't been opened, you can refuse it or take back to post office and they will credit you. Email ahead of time and tell them what you are doing.
