Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware

I talked to the tech director on Friday and he said that the official fix they are applying is at the tower level, no puerto rico specific radios or PRLs or anything. He said that they expect the updates to be done by the end of this week and told me to give it until friday or the weekend to try and re-enable Rev.A on my phone and soft reseting to see if the data comes back.

I obviously didn't tell him I'm running a custom ROM with an unlocked SPL but a word of advice to the guys in here if you ARE using a custom ROM and never ran the Update Profile option from the stock Sprint ROM. You should do one of the following:

A) Call Sprint tell them you have issues provisioning, etc... They should walk you through the process of entering the EPST Menu (##778#), they'll give you your MSL code (write it down and save it for your records), and will instruct you to probably verify and/or enter manually your profile information (user name, ha shared secret, etc..) write all this down, document it for your records along with the MSL code and enter it manually in the Custom Profile 1 menu. This will make sure your data credentials setup correctly so that Rev.A provisions properly.

B) Flash back to Stock Sprint ROM, re-enable Rev.A through the EPST menu and run the Update Profile option. Of course this method will hardreset your phone and you'll have to backup and restore your things with PIM Backup (only contacts, calendar, txts, etc..), Sprite Backup or SPB Backup, wichever you chose.

So... that should be it, one more week of waiting and it SHOULD in theory be over and we should all enjoy Rev.A pretty soon.

I will clear up the Claro thing since I work a Claro dealer in PR. Thay have both CDMA and GSM, the started GSM network like 8 months ago but always kept the CDMA working and as of this week anounced over 35,000 cdma phones were purchased so they will continue both CDMA and GSM (Claro's having GSM problems shhhh)

And I also recieved notification that they are testing the fix to the Rev A prob and will be contacting us Tp and Diamond users as soon as they have tested.

So... I will be in PR sometime in December, is CDMA still working down there? When I was there last in '04 signal was a joke and coverage limited to the metro area.

The signal works fine, its choppy in some spots but I usualy go all over the island and I haven't had that many problems. If not I just switch to roaming which usually does the trick.
