Weather Update Connection Error?
 

Is anyone else getting an error when trying to update weather? I get a Connection Error stating "There was a connection error while attempting to download weather data. Retry?". If I click yes, it will just give me the error again. I've tried a soft reset, removing the cities, cities I've never used before. I get the error every time. The last successful update was 21 hours ago.

It's happening to my HTC Diamond as well. I was in the Sprint store earlier tonight in Downtown Seattle and the demo HTC Diamond also got the connection error for Weather.

I am having the same issue all day today. I m getting a pop up message saying, "Connection Error."

Mine was updating earlier fine, I checked it about an hour and a half ago because it has been raining all day and I get a kick out of the rain and wiper.

But after reading this I checked it and also got the error. It looks like their server is having issues.

Im having the same error on my new touch pro. Its not that bad bcuz tf3d is garbage functionally and im gonna use weatherpanel anyway

yea im getting that message as well. i seriously did a hard reset on my phone thinking the problem was on my phone. i got a new diamond today so i thought i had received a broken phone.lol. im glad that someone else is having this problem as wel but im not happy that its happening.

It has to be a server issue, we're all in different parts of the country and are getting the same thing. Grrrrr I am just glad I am not the only one not getting weather updates and that it's no my precious Diamond.

Sorry you did a hard reset, that sucks when you do one for a problem that isn't even your problem.

They'll get it working again soon I would expect.

i think that the server is being updated. i say this because last night when i got home around 1:30 a.m my diamond was acting up. it said that the prl was being updated. it had been that way for a long long time, i didnt mess with it thinking it interfere with the update. maybe this has something to do with the whole weather update connection error imo.

I tried to do a prl update today, but of course NADA, hopefully with this prl update the heat issue will be taking care off, then again maybe not since its the radio.

Hey, i called HTC Support and they are having the exact same problem with their In House device. So they believe that it has something to do with AccuWeather's servers / database, whether it is an error or they are being upgraded etc.

a lot of posts on xda regarding this issue. looks like the weather data base editor could solve this problem. I personally downloaded a reg file and fixed the problem.

I installed it onto the Internal Storage and it worked fine. Do you have .NET 3.5 installed? I don't know if it is necessary but I know I have it installed...

I would try theses steps then:

1. soft reset and try again.
2. soft reset, disable TF3D, then try again.
3. soft reset, disable TF3D, soft reset, then try again.

Let me know if none of these worked...

I have the same problem of not being able to run the app. But installing it was enough to correct the weather updating problem on the TF3D. I do not really need the app's functionality, so I uninstalled it. But then the weather updates no longer worked. Re-installed. Updates work again. For me, a regedit would be best. There is some discussion of a regedit in the link above. I think I will pursue that.

Interestingly enough, I read this post and uninstalled it and my weather updates are failing again. I am with you and I am going to check into the regedit implementation...

Weather tab is updating fine without the hack/ program on XDA.

not sure whats going on now. im stock fist off. i uninstalled, soft reset, reinstalled to internal, soft again, still cant open app heres the good part,went to weather tab and all is good. thought app. wasnt working uninstalled same prob. reinstalled app. still cant open all is good again. im not touching anything.

Yeah, I uninstalled it and it broke. So I went to the XDA link and tied the regedit, bit it did not work. I didn't get an update error; it just kept saying updating and never actually updated. I took the regedit back out and went back to getting the update error.

I am going to reinistall the cab and leave it alone, until another more straight forward resolution is found. I gotta have my weather!

I did the same fooling around with the edit with the same results. But the last thing that I did was uninstall the cab and check the weather function. It works now. You may want to check it. The server may be up. I will leave it alone for a while and look into it if it stops working again tomorrow.

I just activated my phone yesterday, and called Sprint when the weather wasn't working. I just got a call back that they are aware of the problem and are working on it. For whatever that's worth.

Here is what I finally did. I installed the Weather Editor app, then went to the Registry Editor. The app adds a key called Weather.ServerURLoverride. I renamed the key by removing the "e" at the end. Then I uninstalled the Weather Editor app. Finally, go back to the Registry Editor and rename the URLoverride Key back to what it was. This corrected the problem. I have tested it several times, did a soft reset, and it still works.
