Diamond Heating Issues Explained?

I asked the OP who posted the information about refresh and heat shield on the possibility of setting changes to fix the 100ms vs. 300ms., he did not answer. So I'm asking again:

In the "other", now defunct thread, you posted that the reason that the Diamond is murder on battery is because the radio refresh is set to 100ms and it should have been 300ms, and that a ROM update could correct this.

1) Can this be fixed without a ROM update? I looked in the registry and all of the items/menus in EPST but couldn't find anything close to the 100ms value.

2) The only "refresh" or polling value that I'm aware of is the "slot cycle index". The slot cycle index for Sprint Diamond is set at 2. The forumla for calculating paging channel time is 2^N x 1.28 (where "N" is the slot cycle index). This puts the time at 5.12 seconds (or 5120ms). How is the "radio refresh you mentioned relate (if at all) to this?

I'm a Diamond owner intending to go to Touch Pro, but help here can ease the pain of waiting for the Pro, as I am hoping for at least 24 hours on a charge on the Diamond.

3) Is it true then, since HTC and its affiliates are aware of the incorrect setting on the Diamond, that the Touch Pro will be released with the correct setting and will have BETTER battery life than the Diamond?

On the subject of heat-shield: I can't see how the reportedly omitted shield could hurt the battery life. If anything, NOT having a shield and feeling the heat on the outside means that the heat is radiating out and dissipating, which can HELP battery life (lower internal temp). In general, higher temp=higher resistance=more power needed to drive the circuit. This is why superconductors need to operate at very low temps. Unless there is something I'm not seeing, I can live with the heat and would chose to go without the shield.
