Re: is there a way to NOT default to wap pages?

I was able to get this to work for me by only changing the information in parenthesis like rainfreak suggested. Perhaps those who are having issues are indeed deleting the whole line and then retyping what was posted. The end portion for sprint I notice is different on my phone vs what is in rainfreaks post. Just change the CE; IEMobile 7.11 portion to what Rainfreak posted and it should work.

Re: is there a way to NOT default to wap pages?

I got mine to work, but now i encountered a new problem. I no longer can view work emails via Outlook webmail/webmail express?!?! I am able to get into the site and webmail does load up, but the actual emails will not download and i just see an empty white section. I did see a "javascript error" message that popped up. I was able to view the webmail prior to an Opera:config changes...I tried to hit default/reset in the Custom User agent section and did a soft reboot but it does not change anything. I am a newb and any suggestions for this problem is really appreciated....thanks

Hey, same thing happen to me which was a deal breaker. All you need to do is change the line back to the original and save.

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6950SP

just hitting reset does bring it back to default settings. good luck.

What version of Opera are you guys using? I have 9.5/2745...
I did what rainfreak described and its still not working. The settings are still being saved after a soft reset though. It's just still goign to mobile pages. I've been testing w/ espn.com

Re: is there a way to NOT default to wap pages?

I thought I read in another post that you just have to change the settings to say "view as if from desktop" and it will load all pages as normal.......?

Might also want to check out UAProf URL, and clear the field out.

nytimes.com started working properly after clearing it and restarting opera.

First visit to nytimes showed a fullscreen advertisement for Dell, so you know you're not missing the desktop experience!

open opera, type opera:config in the address. Go to User Preferences and then scroll down to near the middle and under User Agent, it should say something like this:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6950SP

Change it to this:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 6.0; en)

Then all web pages should open up to the full page and not the WAP or mobile versions.

Is this an older version of opera? I go under user preferences and there is NOTHING for User agent. There is however a user agent right on the main config page, when I click on it i get spoof user agent ID. The default is 1 and I have tried 2. Still does not work right, I even did a soft reset. I'am I doing this wrong or perhaps the pages our saved in cache?

That part is actually under CUSTOM USER-AGENT, it will be under USER PREF :)

Clearing out UA Proof URL worked!!!! Wow i thought i was never going to get this to work?

Has anyone else had problem viewing webmail now? Was opera set as your browser default browser for this. My TP goes to Opera when I click on internet tab but if i click an url from text/email it uses MIE so dont know if I will be effected. Am i total in the wrong direciton with this and your reffering to an web based email (i think you are but want to make sure)?

Re: is there a way to NOT default to wap pages?

I could not find a way to view full web sites either. The posted tweaks did not work for me. But what I found out was:

1. When in Opera browser, go to the menu on the right lower corner, and under display options uncheck mobile. (It may be unchecked by default, I do not remember).

2. Under the Custom User Agent I simply changed Windows CE to Windows XP. I only replaced CE to XP. without changing anything else.

Now, it seems to work fine. I have not checked many sites, but the few ones I use often go directly to the full version.

Let me know if this works for you.

Cheers

Re: is there a way to NOT default to wap pages?

For those who cannot get the pref changes to work or do not want to make those types of mods you can use: http://www.guardster.com/subscription/proxy_free.php

I use it for opera mini when I want to see a non mobile site like CNN. I have it saved as a bookmark. Just tick off "hide user agent" and enter the website. It is a little slower but it works without mods.

Re: is there a way to NOT default to wap pages?

has anyone tested any of these methods recently to see if they still work? ive tried clearing the UAProof url and changing the user agreement. soft reset after every option and double checking that it saved. the only site that i am really trying to get to show in full is myspace, and neither of these options have helped me =/
