I just checked for updates on my IE home screen and low and behold there is an update Picture mail app available for the diamond with some nice enhancements.

Contact matching and something else. I am installing now to see if it is better. =D>

I don't think you should be posting that. no2chem got served because he hosted the Picture Mail cab on his site.

We don't want that to happen to you or the site... I recommend you remove that link!

Yeah you would be better off just taking it off this website and just PM ing the link to whoever wants it as PM messages do not get crawled like No2chem's website most likely does.

Update: Beware of this build. It disables picturemail if you don't have a Pro or Diamond.

Couldn't you just post the default URL for Sprint phones? Obviously only people who have sprint devices would be able to get the software. I don't think this would be an issue.

Should not be a problem this time as the cab was not extracted from a rom but freely available through sprint. I wonder if this was Sprints way of saying "F you Verisign!"? Probably not but would be funny.

Hes right. Even though he linked it, its still sprint thats doing the hosting/distribution of the file (Which is the action that gets people in trouble in the first place) not a 3rd party website.

So what is the "sound" that it makes? Does it follow the "New Email" or "New Text Message" settings under Sounds and Notifications? I don't see an extra setting anywhere.

neither do I, but my picturemail is a lot faster now and it sync my inbox onto my phone, I wonder if I can get my saved mail in here as well.

Pic mail is not supported on this device. Well thats what I got when I tried it on my touch (vogue)

Were you plugged into your computer when you tried? You can not be linked to the PC when you try to use picture mail.

Did you see three posts up? It already answered your specific question.

It doesn't matter where you choose, PM will be installed into Storage Memory, overwriting the earlier version installed during customization on initial boot.

Can sombody identify what the new notification string that is been added to the registry? I like that the phone will give an alert now, but I do not like that it displays the message on the screen. I would like to change that.

Well they fixed the sound notification issue. I now hear a sound whenI receive a Pic message. Nice !

You're welcome.

The old version of PM will spawn a "notification tab" when there is an incoming PM, also shown by the picture of a blue camera in the task bar. Are you saying that the new version puts up some other notification on the screen upon receipt?

The sound that you hear--is it the same as some other sound (such as incoming text message, new email, or anything else you're familiar with)?

I have two Diamonds. One is not activated. It is my test mule. I installed the new PM on the test mule to determine what changes are made. There are no new keys in the registry for notification. It doesn't appear to be configurable. You might notice that the old PM will light up the LED ring. I think both the sound and LED are triggered via direct API calls and unconfigurable via the registry. I'm just wondering what sound it is making (since I can't receive PM on my test mule.

The new version still gives the icon, but it will also "display the message on screen" the same as if you get a new text message.

Thanks. I have "Display on screen" turned off for new text message. The old version of PM would display a tab stemming from the bottom of the screen reading something like "New Picture Mail from...". Is this what you're talking about? If so, I know the old version of PM does it too. I know of no way to get rid of it.

The sound I hear is whatever I set as the sound for New incomming email under Sounds and notifications. Before this udate, you wouldnt hear a sound no matter what you set that to.

Ok so now after a hour on the phone with tech support they broke my internet and pic mail still isnt working... I got a trouble ticket to replace my phone and they called a store to make sure they had one, now my question is what happens if i take my phone in to get it replaced with a custom rom on it???

you should probably re-flash it to the Sprint stock ROM that's floating around here somewhere. Also, I think people suggest relocking the phone. There were steps in a stickied thread I thought.

There are other threads floating around addressing most of your issues. Have them do an IOTA, or if you have the MSL, go to ##DATA#, Edit, chose restore. After reset, chose "Update Profile" in Settings. This may very well solve your data related issues.
