Wtf... where is my diamond?? Its been forever and we still dont have one. Ive been elegible for a new phone now for 6 months waiting for this thing. I hate verizon with a passion.

You might be able to bring one over from Sprint. I believe Verizon is connecting phones from other CDMA providers.

x2, verizon strips all there phones, the storm looks nice, especially with the gel touch, but the memory is low so not really built for multi tasking.

By the time Verizon finishes testing their version of the Diamond quality assurance the rest of the carriers will have released a new PPC from HTC for us to play with.

Actually, the in store support I've gotten from Sprint is pretty decent. Company store I go to have very competent employees and hell, even the phone support I dealt with for my g/f's new Instinct was very thorough and wasn't hard to understand.

I had to spend an hour on the phone to merge two accounts and get a discount on a new plan when I bought the Diamond; the guy was clearly a level 2 CSR out of Sacramento who was VERY helpful and took care of everything w/out any hiccups. I think the whole "Sprint has bad CS" is really receding into the past. And it's really hard to argue with the phone selection, the pricing, AND the quality of the network (esp. the data).

tech support ive always gotten US people, just have to make sure you get to tech and not just CS trying to resolve a tech issue.

Unfortunately there are a number of us who cannot just switch to Sprint or any other carrier. I am stuck with Verizon as my employer is paying for my verizon plan and won't pay for any other plan. I am not about to go spend $70+ a month on a sprint plan just to get a better phone sooner. And better is still up for grabs as there has been no official word from verizon on the specs of their Diamond.

sorry to say but id eat my hat if the Verizon phone was better then its announced specs.

its going to be crippled, horribly. just like every other device they release. you're in lala land if you're thinking Verizon is going to switch up there tactics now.

the Verizon diamond will be a paper weight compared to the Sprint and telus one. also Alltel is going to have a crippled device just like verizon.

What announced specs? Verizon has not released any information on their specs for their Diamond. The only specs I've seen are the leaked document from Sprint comparing it's diamond to the verizon diamond. I know better than to believe a "leaked" spec document from one company about another companies products.

Until Verizon releases specs on the Diamond. I'll assume that it's the same as every other CDMA diamond out there. Verizon will as always cripple the software on the phone, and then load it down with a bunch of crappy pointless applications. But I have yet to see anything that would convince me that the hardware will be substantially different.

Juggalo_X, you're right about the vast majority of Verizon phones (about the crippling)..... I was an owner of the Verizon Motorola V710 and I hated what Verizon did to it. I may be wrong, but weren't the Verizon and Alltel HTC Touch versions the same as the Sprint HTC Touch version, with the exception of the color? WiFi and GPS were removed from all the versions compared with the original GSM version.

The one released document about the crippled Verizon Diamond (http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/More...le-a_3021.html) was released with a "Sprint Ahead" logo on it. Does anyone here know of other evidence to suggest it will be crippled? I hope you're right Juggalo_X, as I wouldn't want you to eat your hat!!! What kind of hat is it??

Also, regarding the Alltel Diamond, based on the posts on this site, it didn't appear to be crippled... Do you have alternate evidence? I hope you're wrong on this one.

when i was surfing looking to altell pics for there manila style the spec sheet i saw was the exact same as verizons. now the sad truth is verizon is probably going to cripple there device, given there track record with others they have did it to. altell, since i could find jack all about it really, im more inclined to say that the specs i saw for them may have been more likely bogus then verizons. those specs have been out for a while. and with all the smack talk on verizon, you'd think if they wernt true they would release something different to save face?

i vaguely remember reading a review some where on the verizon diamon and all the guy did was complain about how it was crippled. ill see if i can dig it up. i may be mistaken.

The real spec for a CDMA Diamond on Verizon is still unclear. The only thing we saw confirmed was something "Sprint" released as talking points comparison between theirs and Verizon.

WHo knows, they might end up being identical in specs as far as we know.

I just switched to Sprint from Verizon a couple weeks ago. After about 20 total calls to CS in that time, I'll say this - about 50-60% of them just flat out don't understand the English language. And I can't understand what about 75% of them are saying to me. But then again, I barely understood what user willmatic08 said 3 posts above either so it's quite possibly just me.

Isn't the hardware spec HTC Touch for Sprint and Verizon pretty much identical? With maybe the fact they lock down GPS to be used by their VZ Nav.

On the software side, Sprint offers more on the multimedia end.

So I wouldn't expect them to nurf the Diamond between the two. Keep in mind, it cost more to have two different hardware designs. It is expensive enough for HTC to have a GSM version vs CDMA version. Now multiple of CDMA within that, that cost to R&D

I'm not sure what you guys are smoking, but Sprint's service blows.

I put up with their awful service (dropped calls, garbled one sided conversations, no coverage etc etc etc etc) for almost two years because I had Sprint service for free.

I now pay for verizon (& yes, their phone selection sucks), but even though I could still have sprint for free if I wanted it I will NEVER EVER go back........

Well coverage all depends on where you are, just like with every carrier. Sprint is awesome here, but sucks other places. Deal with it. They have the best internet and really kick *** phones.

Like I said earlier, I just switched from Verizon to Sprint. When it comes to coverage and customer service, Verizon destroys Sprint like a pro wrestler smacking a little child. There is no comparison and there are no 2 ways about it, sorry.

That said, I still switched to Sprint because I wanted a Diamond asap and I was tired of paying twice as much to Verizon as I now do to Sprint. You get what you pay for though.

In my area Verizon's coverage sucks compared to Sprint. I had Verizon for two years and dropped more calls than my ex-girlfriend hit her knees. And believe me, she was friendly...

That's what I am here for... comedic relief.

Though she was a little too friendly for real. For Christmas one year (after we broke up) I sent her a present. She called me all pissed off when she opened it and saw a pair of knee pads and a note that said "I knew the pair you got last month were falling apart from being used too much and thought you could use a new pair."

We don't talk or exchange gifts anymore...

Just remember that my 6800 doesnt have GPS like your sprint one, oh wait, yes it does. VZW can put out what ever they want and people on here (thank you!) will get better newer ROMs onto it. My area is terrible for sprint and since a lot of my family is on vzw it wouldnt make sense to switch to sprint so Ill sit here and wait for my vzw touch pro (hopefully not years).

Exactly. Anybody who has used both services knows this is the case & it's not even worth argueing over (that's why customers are leaving sprint by the thousands & they are on the verge of bankruptcy).

It does irritate me as much as anybody how lame the verizon phone selection is however, especially in light of how high their rates are.........

Sorry guy, I can't agree with you. I get flawless service in my area (San Francisco), and my EVDO-A is awesome on my Mogul, (I'm sure it will just be as awesome on the Diamond and Touch Pro).

The only area I get a bad signal is around my house. We live on a hill in this neighborhood, and both Verizon and Sprint only gives me about 2 bars (3 if lucky), and I know this because I used to have the Verizon Chocolate.

Sprint manages to stay connected on route to my mom's house on Devils Slide, the side of this mountain along the coast, and my verizon would drop constantly, but my Sprint will connect all the way through.

So I think all these service providers are just user experience in their areas.

Well I have had used both verizon and sprint, and so far sprint has treated me very well with very exceptional service to my phone. I'm very happy :)
