EVDO question

Hey all,

My son and I both have the Diamond and at home both show the EV box and at least 3 bars in the task bar. I am having some issues with our data and the tier 2 tech stated my data connection was probably not good enough. I told him that we have 3 bars and EVDO signal, he states that he ran our location (south carolina) and we don't have any EVDO coverage in the area. Anyone else experiencing this? I have seen the phone display cycle in and out of EVDO depending on location in the state and I just checked my data speed on and it is 736Kb and 933Kb/sec.

What is the max I could expect on a regular sprint (not EVDO) network?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: EVDO question

1x speeds are about 3x 56k. You could try putting it to roaming and see if you can pull off of Alltel towers there. Or you could play with it and load an Alltel PRL.

Re: EVDO question

Most the EVDO here is Alltel unless you are in Columbia or Greenville. Take a look at the coverage map on Sprint for data. The standard PRLs do select Alltel EVDO when Sprint is not available. Goto settings phone to roam.

Re: EVDO question

FYI, by switching the phone to roaming, you may experience more battery drain. This has been discussed numerous times on this forum.

Re: EVDO question

so when you say you are having issues with the data does that mean you cannot get it to connect at all.. or just that you are not getting evdo speeds.. it could possible be that you have the internet connection issue which can be fixed by looking at the various methods in the sticky above.. i usually only get 2-3 bars here but my evdo connection works great..

Re: EVDO question

When I am referring to Data issues...

At least a few times a day, my weather will not update, I receive an error that the device cannot connect and it asks me to retry/cancel

I then have tried to get on the internet and it will not connect stating I should check my data connection.

I have found that if I soft reset or take the battery out to reset the device... the data connection is restored.

Is this a phone issue?

Thanks for any and all input,

Chris

Re: EVDO question

I have these issues too. I am running Juicy 2.5 ROM and was wondering if you are on the Stock Sprint/HTC ROM or if you are using a custom ROM?

On a side note, it seems like if I wait long enough, the connection works again, but the fast way seems to be rebooting the phone.....

Re: EVDO question

where in South Carolina are you? I live in York and all of York County has EVDO rA. I work in Charlotte and the tower by here went bad this summer and I called and they sent someone out to fix it.
