Odd problem when answering calls
Problem: When phone is on standby and someone calls hitting the "ANSWER" green button does not answer calls. I end up having to hit the SEND hard button to answer a call.
I've hard rest 4 times already cause I thought it had to do with a program I have installed but it doesnt seem to be the problem. Is there something I am doing wrong?? Running Juicy 2.4.1 UPDATE: I wanted to add that hitting the touchscreen "ANSWER" ends up silencing the call but does not answer it. |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I'm having the exact same issue. I'm using the stock Sprint ROM. Wondering if I've changed a setting somewhere. I can't even hit the answer button on the screen. Call always goes to voicemail and I have to call back. Thinking about going to the sprint store to swap out the phone.

Additionally, my call hard button fails to answer the call as well and I have no way of answering.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I noticed this twice this week, I thought it was something I did wrong... maybe not now.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
Do we think this is a hardware or software issue? I would want to have it exchanged fo the 2nd time before my 30days is up if anything.
|
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
Well i have the same issue except if i press the ignore button it just mutes the phone, and then if i try to press the call button the phone just freezes till call goes to voicemail. Buddy at sprint callcenter "level 2 tech" stated this is a know issue with sprints HTC diamond. IF you have this issue you should return it for a new one. Its a software issue even if you use other cooked roms.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I have not had this happen yet, but if i call some one and hang up before it connects. It will not hang the line up but will close the phone software. The only way I can hang up is to go to com manger and turn off phone signal.... Running stock rom.

I've noticed this too when I don't allow the Customizations to run after a hard reset on the stock Sprint ROM.
Leads me to believe it's a software issue? |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I had the same problem happened to me out of the blue on a Sprint stock ROM, with both the hard key, and soft key. No matter how many times I pressed I could not answer a call it would just go into voice mail. To fix the issue I had to hard reset the phone. Though I am noticing as a few days have gone by it is taking more and more presses to answer the phone.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
Do you guys happen to have the program called Diamond Tweak installed. I had the same problem with that program but nothing since I did a hard reset and didn't install that program.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I have noticed that from time to time also, but have usually been able to answer after several clicks and/or screen presses. There is one circumstance where I can never answer. If I am on the Internet (EVDO), I cannot answer a call. I think that the connection has to be closed or 1X before the call can be answered. I have assumed that the device is just not switching quickly enough, but I have not pursued testing it further yet.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
this is way too frustrating....ive been dealing with this for like 2 weeks now.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls
OMG!!!:drunken:
I am so glad I am not alone!!! I was figuring I was CRAZY](*,) I just e-mailed my Sprint Rep my list of problems: 1) Phone just kind of locks up (gets stuck) for no reason (the touch part is either “dead” or really really sluggish) then it will respond but not right. 2) After I make a call and finish it the phone drops the cellular signal and says it has no service (shows no bars) I have to either reset the phone (on and off) or turn off the cellular signal and then back on to get service. 3) If the phone is connected to anything Bluetooth and you try to answer it by pressing the “answer” on the touch screen, it does not let you, but it keeps ringing. 4) When you are on a call the phone goes to a different screen for no reason. 5) Phone is really hot to touch on back (by battery) 6) While using the phone it suddenly stops what it is doing and “plays” the “start up” music it does when you turn the phone on. 7) Battery life is running about 5 hours, weather I use the phone or not. Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I'm thinking it freezes up for us because the phone either
A) Has a hard time switching tasks, perhaps due to pagepool? (mine is dynamic) B) Is trying to use the internet connection the same time the call comes in. Maybe checking the weather once its wakes up? I can't think of anything else really. All day today its been working fine and I didn't do anything different at all. |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I have done some testing on this today. I made 15+ calls to the phone, both with the Data Connection On and the Data Connection Off.
Here is what I found. If the Data Connection is Off, no problem answering a call either with the Hard Key or the Answer button. But if the Data Connection is On, whether active or not (white or greyed arrows), the call cannot be answered on the first press - many times, not at all. Update: It is not the number of presses. Rather there is a delay from the first press until the call is answered. Several presses only gives the illusion that the extra presses are what causes the call to be answered. That is the problem. Please try it yourself to confirm. The question is, who has the fix? Diamond Tweak is installed, but I do not think that it is the software itself, though it could be one of the registry settings that Diamond Tweak applies when it is run. Seems as though I read about a similar problem with the GSM versions a month or two ago on XDA. Update: XDA a has a thread on this, but the recommendations did not help. I will continue searching. I did learn that it is not the number of presses that will determine whether the call will be answered. It is the time delay before it answers. Press once or 10 times. Does not matter. When you press several times, you only "think" that it is making the phone answer. Try it. Just press once. After a 2 or 3 second delay it will answer, if the first press was early enough. If not, it will go to voicemail. Also, don't bother switching to the Windows default dialer. That does not help. So far, the only thing that works is making sure the Data Connection is OFF. That works every time. |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
Ok I flashed to a new rom but the same problem and I DID NOT have the Diamond Tweaks running.
BUT I was running Emoze, when I uninstalled it the phone worked perfectly! does anyone know of another program that pushes e-mail from my desktop to the phone so I can try it? thanks! Quote:

I wonder if ANY application, installed sufficient, quantity would cause the problem. As people start to install more "stuff", there is a threshold here it breaks. @Cappy: Do you have a backup of the device prior to your hard reset? I wonder if the problem is still there after a restore. If all of the applications were de-installed, would the problem go away? I wonder... |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I experienced this problem intermittently, but only within the past week or so - have had my diamond for about 3 weeks. I don't think I have diamond tweaks installed [unless it's included in Juicy's 2.41.

Cappy,
Please report the following values on your recently hard-reset device, type of string (dword, binary, etc., also please note if item does not exist) under HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings CacheTime SuspendResume CoeffLatency VPNCacheTime Thanks! |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
I've had my diamond about three weeks now and I have not encountered this problem yet. Maybe I'm just lucky and using the sprint stock rom. Ive noticed most of you are running juicy's rom and are encountering this problem. Maybe it's not the phone but the rom?

Take a look at the thread I just started. This may fix your problem:
Possible solution on delay answer when data on (no hard reset needed!) |
Re: Odd problem when answering calls
This happens to me only when I have poor signal strength, like at work. With good signal strength at home, it never happens.
