akared, thanx a million. exported my contacts through bluetooth no problem. however, it did bring to light a few things that i was not expecting.
my diamond is synched with my work email so i can get mail, tasks, calendar, and contacts on my phone. what i really didnt pay attention to was the fact that the contacts that were already on my computer never synched with my diamond. when i transferred my contacts from my old phone to my diamond it updated the contacts on my computer at work. no big deal except that i could not get my contacts from my computer over to my diamond unless i opened each contact up and saved it again. then it would synch with my phone (btw-using outlook 2007 on microsoft exchange). i did not want to do this for every contact on my computer so what i did was this. i deleted all the contacts on my phone. this wiped all the contacts that synched with my computer. i then exported the contacts on my computer to csv file. then i deleted the contacts on my computer. next i transferred the contacts from my old phone to my new phone via bluetooth. this populated the contacts on my computer. then i imported the contacts from the csv file into outlook. after the contacts imported they were able to synch with the phone. one thing i did before in transferred the contacts between the old phone and the new one was i deleted any contacts that would have been duplicates on outlook. just to keep the redunancy out of the equation. i know there are some settings somewhere that takes care of duplicates but i didnt want microsoft managing that aspect of it.
again...thanks for the suggestion.
