Actually, I like the idea of a combination lock. Maybe when I get this one running enough to release (hopefully still this weekend for an Alpha version), I could take that and port it into a new project.

Have the screen come on to a tight up shot of a safe tumbler. To unlock it you roll right to the first number, then left to the second number, then right to the final number. When the combination is correct you get a quick 1-2 second shot of the door opening to your Home screen, then it is unlocked.

Of course the options would allow you to choose how many turns (1, 2, 3, etc) to use, what to do in case of improper code entered, lockout time, etc. Thoughts?

i think thats sounds great! i recommend numbers 1-10 around the dial. any more might b a cluster.

I was thinking 10, 20, 30... 90, 100... with little ticks between them, like on a safe tumbler.

Or maybe when you are rotating around the d-pad, the lock on screen spins, but the number it is on is magnified in a bubble like so: [center image]
