I've always been able to send from Yahoo using IMAP. I wasn't able to when using their POP server though. Sprint's official word on it is that you have to have the premium Yahoo mail, but it's not really the case. Try changing to IMAP and you should be fine.

I've had this issue since the beginning of the summer I think. It allows to u so send and receive emails but it just loses connection very often and then requests u to enter your username and password in again. If u have an outgoing message pending it will send it, but if you have just received that message to re-log in then it won't send it at that moment but if u just wait a few minutes it'll be sent. I don't know why this happens obviously it's something on Yahoo's part. I'm going to try upgraded to yahoo plus and see if it actually takes care of the issue because it is very annoying.

Yahoo IMAP works fine for free. You don't need the Mail Plus account. The issue with asking for the password is a limitation with Yahoo servers being accessed from 2 places too often. It refuses to log you in if you check your IMAP email more often than about every 30 minutes, and also check your account online during that time. I have been over this many times with the yahoo email tech support and its very frustrating.
