So this is what I did. Painted it with some plastic paint.

It's more detailed than that, but anyone who has done any rocketry or models should know how to paint something nicely. This will hold me over till there are some decent battery covers out.
Doesn't that ruin the soft touch finish?

Re: Sprint Black Battery Cover

I thought I read somewhere that sprint was introducing other back options i.e. (black, grey) when they release the pro on the 19th? Is that just rumor?

Yes I would love to see that it looks like with the phone. I might just do it myself!

Apparently T-Mobile in Germany will be getting a black cover. I like this better... maybe Sprint will provide options soon.

Any comments or experience to share? TIA!

I repainted the battery cover.. It's got a semi-touch ruberrized feel now and NO stickiness or horrible paint smell.. The new paint I used is PJ1 matte finish engine coat. it's awsome ! I even dropped my phone once and the paint didnt even budge.. Get the matte finish if you decide to do this. Also dont use a dremel. The plastic the battery cover is made from is extremely soft. Use sandpaper to get most of the surface roughed up then mask the camera area with masking tape.

This is the new paint I used on the second cover. And for that battery/phone heat problem.. It will withstand 500 degrees ! LOL !

Actually I could mask around that as well then paint it, or take the phone apart and paint it. But actually I like the maroon around the usb. It gives it a nice stylish look.

Re: Sprint Black Battery Cover

Not planning on painting mine, I found the reddish coloring isn't really that bad, it looks much worse in picture than when it's in your hand. it doesn't stick out, and it compliments the black front (lol). But very nice paint job, and i agree with you, i like how around the usb and the stylus still have some red. =D>
