Is the Diamond (or Pro) still top dog in CDMA Land?

I believe I'm asking this in the right forum because I want to ask the Diamond (Pro) croud.

Does anyone know what's coming to replace the diamond and when?
I have the itch for something better after seeing my friends iPhone.
Holly smoke the apps sure are nice.
However my primary priorities are (which the Diamond/CDMA/Sprint does quite well):

Phone performance - Verizon/Sprint do much better in my Area
Price - I think it would cost me like $90/mo x 2 to get what I get with Sero for $30/mo x 2.
GPS Nav - AT&T (like Verizon) lock the GPS out and their are no Nav Apps yet even if you could bypass it.
Tethering - Locked out by AT&T.

But it sure would be nice to get those iPhone apps and their integration.

HTC Apps are a total joke.

Well if you want to keep SERO the top dogs are the Diamond / Touch Pro right now, hopefully their replacements will be around soon (fall probably), but I am not holding my breath...

Though, the Pre is probably the top dog for Sprint right now, but good luck getting that on SERO.

HTC Diamond 2

HTC Touch Pro 2

These are definitely top of line replacements. The Samsung Omnia 2 has great specs, but nothing is quite as modifiable as the HTC Diamond and TP right now.

Re: Is the Diamond (or Pro) still top dog in CDMA Land?

right now Pre is Top Dog, like tenny said though it cant be put on SERO, you would have to switch to one of the ERPR plans that replaced SERO, or Touch Pro is the best for SERO. If you dont have SERO, Pre is the way to go!!!!

(I apologize to the WinMo gods, i will say twelve Our PPC's and ten Hail 6.5's for my transgressions)

Re: Is the Diamond (or Pro) still top dog in CDMA Land?

With those priorities, I would pick up a Diamond, cook up a simple, fast and stable 6.5 rom, and you should be good to go. The VGA screen on the Diamond is very nice, and I actually prefer an on-screen keyboard ... finger keyboard is my favorite. The newer HTC phones will most likely hit Sprint later this fall ... but who knows for sure. The screens will be slightly larger, and so will their price tags.

I couldn't have said it better, short, sweet and to the point

which "simple, fast, stable" 6.5 ROM do you recommend? it seems like many of them have problems... is there one that doesn't?

MR 5 beta which I have on my hard drive. Being 96MB, it's kinda hard to upload here.

ok, but it doesn't address the original question, which was in CDMA-LAND...
neither of these devices are available in CDMA land right now. The TP2 is on the horizon, near term, but the TD2 is nowhere in sight. And there is the Pre.

So do you have a better answer for the question that was actually posed?

(the answer seems to be, adding the Pre, but YES the TP and Diamond *are* still the top doggies in CDMA land... and the Samsung Omnia perhaps... and the Snap, if you like WM/Std...)
