1. Connect your Diamond to your computer with the usb cable. This is also an excellent time to back up anything, just in case.

2. We need to put the phone in diagnostic mode. This is done by running dmrouter.exe by dialing ##DIAG Send (##3424 Send).

3. Let windows install your new hardware. There will be two dialogs that come up. The first one should install after you click next. The next will require a file called qcmdmxp.sys and says it can't be found. As luck has it, your computer already has this file, and it's located here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\.
Simply tell the wizard to look there, and it will show the file, click on it, and the installation will finish.

4. Install QPST if you haven't already.

5. Run the Service Programming program under the QPST start menu.

6. Double click on the little globe at the bottom right of your screen.

7. Click on Add New Port, and add COM# - USB/QC DIAGNOSTIC.
It should now show your Com Port and your phone WinCE (########)

8. Close the QPST Configuration window, and go back to the QPST Service Programming window.

9. The ######## from step 7, which is the same number in the ESN column, is your ESN! (in hex format). If you have your SPC already, keep going. Otherwise, scroll down and read the SPC section.

10. Click on your phone, and then click OK.

11. It might now ask you to choose your base model. I've found that scrolling to the bottom of the list and choosing SURF6100-ZRF6155 works well. If this isn't in your list, go with trial and error, starting from the bottom, then click OK.

11. Click on Read From Phone and then enter your SPC and click OK.

11. Goto the gpsOne tab (you'll have to scroll to the right) and enter these details:
Code:

Allowed = checked
Assistance-Spherical = checked
Assistance-Cartesian = checked
AFLT = checked
GPS Almanac = checked
GPS Ephemeris = checked
GPS Almanac Correction = checked
Autonomous = checked
GPS/AFLT Hybrid = checked

PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE
12. Click Write To Phone

13. SOFT RESET

14. Test your GPS.
I already read that these steps don't work on Vista, so I know they won't work on Windows 7 either, but I don't have access to an XP machine at the moment. Is there a 64-bit driver I can download for Vista/Win7 (they use the same driver model) to complete these steps? QPST can't see my phone without the driver installed, and I'm running a 64-bit OS, so stealing the XP drivers won't work either...

EDIT - I found the attached driver pack a few posts back, and to my amazement, it included a Vista64 exe! Thanks!

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

I have made an oops!! I am with telus (diam 500), I did a pri update for sprint without thinking what I am doing. I should have just left it alone. Well I have searched for the last three days and have not found any of the solutions that was suggested to work. I have installed the shipped rom for telus, and this brought back all my services, so my phone is working correctly, except that it says my networkcarrier is bell mobility (was sprint first, .... anyways long story short). I looked and the pri is still 1.53 xxxx and not the one that telus release with the rom update for the diamond (1.34 xxxx). I think the only thing that will help me is to manually install the pri. I used the carrier cab provided by dcd and this dint give me a ppst.exe file, so I couldnt do it that way.

Any suggestions to revert back to the stock pri will be great. Thanks.

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

I would say re-lock your phone and install the telus ROM from the HTC site. You might be able to just dial *22803 and press 1 (for english) and 1 again (to program your phone) soft reset and then dial it again and press 1 then 2 (to update your prl). The second option might work, but I guess that you'll have to relock and then install the ROM (only way to over-write the radio).

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

There is never a need to relock your phone.

You can installed the Shipped ROM and it will flash your Splash1, Splash2, Radio, and OS (but it will leave the phone unlocked). I don't remember if the PRL is installed during flash, but I believe it is done during the initial customization, so you have to let that run.

You can also download the PRL file, obtain your SPC (also known as MSL), dial ##778# and choose PRL from the menu, then choose update PRL and locate the downloaded file. (This is the easiest method and does not reset your phone)

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

Just followed the steps for gpsOne Settings. When I do the write to phone part, I will get a message that says "phone on comport COM18 has changed, do you want to disconnect Y / N"

Disconnect and reconnect. Went back into QPST and I did a read from phone and I see all the settings there. But no luck in getting the GPS lock with TomTom 7.
