Picked up a 800W without having to change plans.. still on the Friends and Family shared with my wife.

Re: Sprint Plans for the Diamond

Before I had Sero, I had an older plan that was basically like sero except it was 39.99$ a month. Included unlimited power vision business pack but no text or M2M etc.

I had lost my treo 650 and wanted to get another phone. Because I was on this mocked up plan (only put in place due to "promises" made by the rep who shouldn't have made them. I was offered two options....

1. Get another phone at the upgrade price but switch to a current plan.
2. Purchase the phone at the outright price and maintain my current plan.

I ended up purchasing the phone at full cost. They added it to my account without problem.

I assume it would be the same for the raphael. If you are on a great grandfathered plan. They might try to "lure" you out by giving you upgrades for a current contract plan offering.

You're better off just buying a new phone outright or adding a second line and doing the ETF depending on how much you'll save if the plan you have is not worth risking.

Worse case scenario is to do some serious hacking and make the phone work if they want you to use it or not

Which phone did you switch to? The Treo 650 was not an EVDO device and your data plan was Vision only. If you switched to an EVDO device, they had no choice but to switch your plan because of the way it was set up for the 650. If you had stayed with a 1XRTT device, you could have kept the rate plan you were on.

As far as the current rate plans are concerned, they are extremely competetive and and the general consumer has been asking for a couple of years now for bundled plans that include text, data and voice. For anyone considering a device like the Diamond or the Pro, the new plans are the only way to go.

Re: Sprint Plans for the Diamond

I agree you can complain about being forced into the but lets face it in my 3 years working cs for sprint this is the best voice data bundling you could have ever gotten unless you were on sero(Which was a joke and the only real reason sprint has lost money recently), and even then this is still damned good.

Yeah the Customer Service is great niow, has been since the early Spring.

Its the shifts & changes that are begining to sour slowly. None have affected me yet.

Re: Sprint Plans for the Diamond

I find the SE family plans to be very unreasonable. Why should the cheapest plan start at $130 for 1500 mins? What about those of us that have two phones we use ourselves, instead of sharing with someone else? Why must I be forced to go from my 450 mins shared plan for about $60 to 1500 mins for $130? Why isn't there something cheaper? That is the only thing that has me considering closing one of my lines even though I need it.

did you have a bad day? seriously though, there is no point in speculating about any plans that they have until they release the phone. yes they planned the instinct to be the iphone killer, but we dont know what kinda plans they have for the diamond yet. we'll all just have to wait and see, like always.....
