so i went and got the arrive yesterday ..
 

and right away my contacts wouldn't go over to it when i was at the store they tried to put em on it .i tried to sync em thru my email like the tards at the store said i also tried bluetoothing them over to no avail .. i also tried to sync my music over thru zune and it's not working either does any1 and i mean any1 that has the arrive know how i can get them over from my tp2 ????

Take it back to the store and make them switch the contacts.

If they say they can't, they're lying. I went from a TP2 to the Arrive with no problems. The store was able to move the contacts no problem.

As for the music, the Zune software should automatically detect any music that it can use on your computer so long as it is in your c:/Music folder. If your music is kept somewhere else, go into the Zune software on your computer and change the settings to look in other folders to find the music.

i did all that already i even went to the repair center here and they can't get em on there so i dunno whatelse to do and for zune i tried that too still keeps syncing sample music from my laptop am i doing something wrong ???

That is odd. The Sprint store should have no problems with grabbing your contacts. Maybe try a different store?

As for the music, make sure that the music you have is a format that the Arrive will recognize and is NOT DRM protected iTunes purchases. If they're from the iTunes music store and have DRM they won't sync. Just make sure you've got the settings set up right. Like I said, make sure the software is looking in the right folder, make sure they're not DRM'd, and make sure that the sync options are telling it to sync automatically instead of manually.

their not drm'd their mp3's i converted over to wav's and it's still not finding em in my public music or my music on my laptop but when i got thru my docs not zune i can clearly see them in there under music and we only have 2 stores in this 1 horse town and i went to em both 1st on thursday when i picked it up and the other store today and they can't figure it out ..

I am no Zune expert nor use it yet on my Arrive. I did find this quote for you.."unfortunately the Zune cannot play WAV files; however, it can play WMA Lossless files". This makes sense Zune doesn't recognize it because when I used HTCRIE tonight to edit my ROM before flashing my spare TP2 I noticed the Zune logo was on the WMA files and not the WAV files for alarms/ringtones. As far as your contacts issue, Sprint tried and told me they couldn't transfer mine because I had a custom ROM installed and it wouldn't recognize it. I was on an extended lunch purchasing so I decided to clean up and edit mine manually while watching the tube (all 265 LOL). There are other posts here regarding this issue. I know Eric will drop in here and help you out. He knows the ins and outs on this issue.

all my contacts and music transferred flawlessly from my tp2 to arrive. what u need to do js setup a new hotmail account then goto ur tp2 and set it up to sync with exchange (bing for exact instructions) then on the arrive add that new account as a primary account and then set it to sync contacts and u should be good to go. and as for Zune make sure all ur music is saved in one folder if not then u have to set it to find the others. then u will want to convert all those .mp3 and .wav files to .wma files (dbPoweramp converter is a good program for this) the format that I recommend u convert them to is .wma pro with a sample rate of 48khz and with a bitrate of 96kbps doing this will provide superior sound than an .mp3 at 256k and at half the filesize. I don't recommend using WAV. while uncompressed is the best way to go the filesize is much too large for a mobile device

I had to go to 2 different stores to get mine transferred from my TP2. First I had to reinstall the original ROM(not sure if needed, but didn’t want to risk it). They couldn’t connect to the TP first, then they didn’t have the Arrive on the machine. They figured out another device that allowed the transfer. just contacts, nothing else.

One would figure they would have synching to outlook more readily available. Some of the issues observed are valid, however, the performance is definitely the upgrade. Battery life is great, and having 3 TP2 batteries means never having to worry when out for extended periods away from power.

yep tried that too b4 i went to work i reinstalled stock rom for my tp2 and took it back in their still telling me the samething in both the stores here they can't em to sync over so yeah i got the music over alright now they're working i'm more worried about my work and family contacts cause sprint still can't get them over onto the arrive so i dunno i put a few on it today just to get by but sooner or later the rest are gonna have to go over to it problem is i know too many damn people ..

Regarding pushing over contacts from one phone to another using the cellabrite machine. Tell the sprint rep to use *HTC 7 pro* if they see HTC arrive. They have the same model number HTC T7575. Some store just don't know any better.

appreciate all the help fellas but for some reason while being on the phone with sprint advanced tech they advised me to take the phone back declaring it defective cause all my contacts after doing what u guys asked me to do and what the rep told me to do sent em triple with no numbers what so ever and since the phone decided to over heat over the weekend and while i was talkin with sprint rep he told me to take it bac k .. so again appreciate all the help you guys have given me thank you ..

Finally got around to trying what you suggested. Converted all my music files. Downsized from 4.5 to 1.3 GB. Still sounds good. Thanks.

Not a surprise. New electronics usually have a higher defect rate than established ones. I had to use the hotmail method to sync my contacts from my Mogul because WP7 requires corporations with self-signed certs to extract said certs with all private keys for WP7 to sync. Good luck.

i don't know why but i'm starting to believe ya on that especially since i got this thing brand new and they can't seem to find anything wrong with it besides it heating up when i'm on phone calls . i tried using gmail and hotmail to sync my contacts and it's got my contacts names over just not my contacts numbers and email accounts went back in yesterday after they called me back and said their software for syncing contacts was updated and still they can't get them to show up and they also went ahead an swapped my phone out to another new 1 and it's still having the same issue so yeah i hate to say it but i'm going to not trying to piss any1 off but it looks like imma have to abandon my wp7 dream til sprint can figure it out damn it and i was just starting to fall in love with my device .. anyways fellas like i said b4 thank u for all ur help it was very much appreciated ..

dont know why you are having issues. all my contacts transferred flawlessly, number,pictures and all. try to sync them without the +1 in them because i had them blank once (but on my TP) but when i did that everything was good.

i have no idea i just dunno what the hell is going on with my accounts even if it's the accounts all i know is i've been trying since i got it last thursday and nothing seems to be working i also went behind as u suggested and took the 1 out and still nothing so i dunno what the hell it is i'm doing wrong but neither me or the advanced tech heads can figure it out at this point ..

now u just brought up something interesting did u try bluetoothing them over from the evo cause i'm willing to try and see if my wife will let me use her phone and try to get em on here even though i tried with older devices i have here to sync my contacts from them with no avail .. can some1 tell me if there is bluetoothing issues with this device ??? cause i notice u really can't bluetooth to anything except headphones on this thing

I just thought of something.... do u by any chance have ur contacts arranged in groups? because I did for some reason when that happened to me. all the numbers I had in the "Latina" group did not sync properly just the names so what I did was remove the groups and resynched them and it worked flawlessly. of course this was back on my tp2 when I switched all my contacts from Google to hotmail. I imagine that it shouldn't be much different on the arrive so try that.

Just because everything worked "flawlessly" for you does not mean other users with a different phone will work.

A disclaimer should be given when purchasing the HTC Arrive - "work in progress."

It's a good phone, just not what some people want or need.

FYI, OP, it took a long time to sync all my contacts. you might try letting it sync for an hour and see if that works.

nope their not in groups i made sure of that when i got the arrive that they are not in groups still dont freaking get it ..now i got a question for any1 who wants to answer this that has a wp7 device why is it when i connect the phone to my pc it sync's music that i don't want onto it i tried taken a different approach and tried setting it to the exact folder i wanted it to sync to only to find out when i removed the folder i didn't want sync'd deleted completely out of my libraries i've had to restore my folders 14 times to get my original folders back after disconnecting my computer how the hell do ya get around it without that happening again 2 when i 1st added zune software it made my computer go completely nuts at 1st when i connected my phone it shut down twice saying it was an error and afterwards it seriously messed up my computer to the point i had to do several restores can some1 honestly tell me if there is a problem with zunes software ???

I honestly don't know what ur issue is with the contacts as to why it isn't working. did u create a new live account and sync all those contacts over through exchange on the tp2? and is it the primary account setup on the phone? not sure if it has to be but its recommended that u have this one primary. as for the Zune issue I haven't had any such problems and Zune will not sync with folders that u don't have it set to sync with. once again good luck and I hope it works this time. it may also help to post ur issue over on Microsoft answers.

yep set up a new account got all my contacts sent to email thru my tp2 using it's wifi connection and when i open my email they are there in full view with the numbers ..


lol i pm'ed u cause u had a wp7 device long b4 any1 else and thought that u might have inside sources as to what to expect from it since they are almost similar and asked about ringtones and mp3 trimmer and 2 days after i got it i asked ya about the contacts



glad u like ur device it really is a nice phone just wish i could figure out why i'm having such a hard time getting mines to do what i want it to do ..

oh but ull miss out on the fun in upgrading to mango when it comes out. I still can't believe u had that contact sync problem tho. it was flawless for me. try posting at MS answers or tweeting windows phone support, they're very helpful. don't have to give up that doesn't solve anything.

ok here's the thing i ain't giving up more like i'm faced with going back to my tp2 .1 i dun like how no1 seems to know how to get my contacts over i called htc and i called ms via their number posted for tech support no1 has an answer as to why thats happening .2 i dun like the fact my kids was on my phone this weekend and after 5 mins of being on the phone talkin to my inlaws it heated up scaring my kid to the point she dropped my phone cause she said it was hot good thing it was in the couch so it didn't break . 3 im doing what's best for me not really worried about a mango update maybe when it comes out it will address my issues but i got to do whats right for me .. so like i said b4 i like the phone but i got my reasons on why i'm going back to my tp2 like i also stated thanks for all the help much appreciated ...
