Actually I'm not. By the responses in this thread and the same question posed in other threads, the auto-tilt screen is absolutely worthless!

Hopefully the HTC Arrive 2 or next generation WP7 phone from Sprint with keyboard will leave out that feature or at least give the user the option to tilt the screen.

Not old school, just freedom of choice. I'm not sure about your arrive, but on mine, it seems that the spring wants to engage even when the slideout is not all the way. In other words, it feels like the tilt screen spring wants to pull the screen out all the way in order to make it tilt.

Here's a test, slide it out to the end before it auto-tilts, then move the phone a bit and see if it tilts. Mine does 90% of the time.

Speaking from a design perspective, I don't think the "don't slide it out all the way" screen non-tilt method was the intended design of the screen tilt. Otherwise, there would have been some sort of slight lock (or click) at the 1st position (non-tilt) and a separate 2nd position (tilt) lock.

Re: Auto Tilt Screen?

I figured out a way to stop the Auto-Tilt. I purchased the hard plastic case for the arrive and installed the face part upside down and the plastic on the side prevents the screen from autotilting!!!! WOO-HOO!

Nice find! After reading that I questioned the ability to access the camera button till I tried it. The beveled edge does give you access still! Gonna give it a try for a while

The only negative about the upsidedown/reversed faceguard is that the side of the phone with the hinge is now uncovered/unprotected. Well worth the risk compared to the auto-tilt mess!
