Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

Does anyone know if the radioshack employee plan (3rd party plan) will work on the window phone 7? I currently have a htc touch pro 2.

i no longer work there, but my plan still works and i am not on contract, just paying monthly... i don't want to change my plan to sprint everything now because i'm only paying $20 lol.

i think it will cause it seems sprint doesnt know your not working there, my 27% work discount works on epic but with you not under contract that may be a issue.

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

I also have a Touch Pro 2 on a Free & Clear Family plan. I'm pretty much locked in the Touch Pro 2 and having been asking Sprint Store employees if I can upgrade to the HTC 7 Pro and they say it shouldn't be a problem since the F&C plans are compatible with WM devices....however I spoke with Sprints customer service and they told me all new smart phones whether they are operating on Android, RIM, WM or WebOS will have to be on the newer data plans! Hopefully they will allow older legacy plans such as the F&C and SERO to upgrade to newer phones because my TP2 is buggy, sluggish and in need of an update.

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

You won't be able to get the upgrade discount since the plan doesn't support it (they fixed the loophole where you use to) but you can access your My Sprint account page and switch the device there. You'll likely be charged the upgrade fee if the phone has never been previously activated. The only problem you might run into is if the HD7 Pro is 4G. I'm not sure if it'll force a plan change or just add on the Premium Data.

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

i think i'm just going to buy the htc 7 pro retail price and just try to swap phones through the website or customer service, if it won't let me, then ill resell the phone lol. i'll post updates when the phone comes out.

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

If that worked that would be great, but expensive. Before I purchased the Touch Pro 2 I was using an ancient Palm Treo 755p, I was very much looking forward to upgrading to the Palm pre when it came out, but when they restricted Web OS from older legacy plans I was irritated by their decision. When the TP2 came out and I was eligible to upgrade I was ecstatic but I soon realized WM 6.5 had too many bugs and the phone was far underpowered. I hope Sprint allows older users to run newer devices... I mean I've been with Sprint for 9 long years! And there are probably thousands still on older plans like myself. Shouldn't Sprint reward customers who stuck with them through the thick and thin with newer phones?

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

If I were paying $20 a month and the only way I could get the phone and keep the plan was buying one outright, I would totally do it.
It would pay for itself before the two years is up, vs the next cheapest plan for him.

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

probly not since radioshack is anti-WP7

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

You will be able to put the Pro 7 on your current plan, but it will be an extra $10 a month. That is the word I got this morning from our Rep.

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

I've read some articles, and yes i can put my plan on pro 7 for $10 bucks extra a month (since it's an activation of a new phone). Basically, the people who are grandfathered-in just buy the phone retail (expensive, but will save in the long run) activate it for $10 more a month. I will be paying $30 a month instead of $20 =( lol

So I'm on a sprint power pack family plan, am in in the same boat as ^ ?

Sprint has closed the door on all other "data" phones for me and want's about another $150 per month for the same service. I'm hoping the WM phones will still squeak through.

Anyone know?

Everything right now is a guess, because i've called cust. service and they are clueless, they will always say you have to upgrade your plan to "everything data" blabla, so we just have to wait til the phone actually comes out and hopefully people in our situations will post results on activating the phone without having to upgrade or lose their discounted plan (sero, radioshack, 3rd party plan, any other grandfathered plan).

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

Just to let you know that you will only be able to switch to the WP7 if you can get someone to update your plan to the new employee plan through customer service (third party customer service) which can be an hassle, since your rep is the one that needs to make the changes. You do have to pay the 10 dollar premium data fee as well. I had to do that when I got my EVO. The plan is still the same but it allows for the premium data to be added on. If you don't work for the company then it is harder to get it changed. But i've heard of people getting it done.

Can you please list Sprints or the "third party" customer service number so we can attempt
this? Also, do we just ask for these changes be made? What should we ask of the reps?
Thx

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

We will have to make sure this conversation is still a go when the phone comes out. Because right now I'm on the $30 SERO plan. Now I know that I can upgrade to any phone for $10 a month, and then with their new $10 premium data, that puts me at $50, but if what I'm hearing is right, I will not get charged premium data if I buy the phone outright and just activate it?

this was actually covered before by that Russ guy from Sprint marketing. Anyone on the Sero Premium does not have to pay for the extra $10/mnth, since they are technically already paying for it. You will only pay the aditional $10 premium if you are using a 4G device

↑crap, didnt notice this device requires premium data addon! totally makes me reconsider getting it :(
says so right under the price

Considering I'm going from the SERO $30/mnth plan to $50/mnth, yes that is a big deal to me. For something that will be as outdated very quickly, it is not worth paying the price I would normally pay for a phone with more features.
Guess I'll stick with my TP2 for a bit longer :???:

BTW: no, I dont spend the money on mcdonalds, bk, etc.. I actually want to have a retirement; the "big deal, its only a little more" attitude is what keeps people slaving their entire lives. The phone is an extra $20/mnth, and thats an extra $10/mnth that I'm not willing to pay for. Simple as that

Why do we complain about these extra fees? It is that we are not foolish enough to give up such a huge discount. For example, I pay approximately $37.00/month for two lines and 1400 minutes with my Free & Clear family plan, I have unlimited text/roaming/internet on both lines. So my yearly cost of my two Sprint lines is about $444, if I wanted the same services with todays plans and newer phones I would be paying about $129/month for two lines, thats $1,548 to operate two lines is 1 year!

I am thankful enough to be employed and I would rather save the $1,104 then spending it on my phone carrier...

Anyways my point is if they wanna charge me an extra $10-20 a month for a newer phone I'd rather just stay with my plan

Re: Radioshack employee Plan work on htc 7 pro?

Amkfoo pretty much nailed it..
I never once complained about it being unfair. I simply stated that I do not think the phone is worth the $20 premium for what may end up as a lateral upgrade. I would rather wait for something next gen before considering giving up my TP2.

sorry if it seemed that i was baiting/flaming i was jus trying to make a point. however it does get kinda annoying to see the same concerns/complaints or whatever in threads or on the front page news articles everytime a new phone is coming out. ever since the EVO announcement this has been going on. i mean shouldnt they already know the terms of this plan and the phones they can have?

Just to through some more weight behind Darren's post, we have been getting a lot of complaints about how some threads have been running off the rails around here. This has got to stop and stop now.

Consider this a general warning that bans are going to start flying if I continue to see the same crap over and over again over the next few days.

Yeah... sucks. Might just go ahead and try to get them to convert my account to the $40 indirect demo one.

Anybody have their Arrive on the new $40 3rd party plans? Or are those plans only for 4G phones? Are the Arrives on a different plan?
