Re: Whose getting it?

Got both of my Arrives today, I'm loving it. My biggest frustrations have been trying to figure out how to customize it like I did my TP2.

I went to the Sprint store today and checked it out. Briefly, I'm underwhelmed. While it is faster and has more memory, it appears to be "dumbed down" from the TP2. It also appears to be harder to customize. I'm going to wait awhile.

Re: Whose getting it?

I picked mine up on Saturday and have been playing with it for a few days now.

My biggest kudos are:
It is fast
The user interface seems to be pretty intuitive
The apps that are available have a nice consistent integration

My biggest complaints are:
NO WAY TO SYNC - Why did Microsoft relaease a phone without a way to sync contacts, calendar with it's own Outlook????
No RedBox app - I know, maybe soon but I want it
No Garmin - I really miss the stand alone navigation
Minimal integration with facebook
When I try and dial a contact no suggestions pop up. I have to use the people tile
Bing removed turn by turn navigation for some reason??

I have 30 days to try this out but no sync is a major deal breaker. Are we going backwards in functionality?

Re: Whose getting it?

Let me add to that complaint list with something that I had to work around last night:
MyPhone does not exist for Phone 7. Microsoft has officially stated that they are pushing the Live service to replace the functionality that MyPhone served for WM6.5 users.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...9-33f859de7fca

There is a post on that answer database that describes using VirtualPC and the WM6.5 SDK to emulate a 6.5 phone to sync your MyPhone info to Office, and then use that to update to Live, but it is not a solution that works for everyone's situation.
I ended up going to the MyPhone site and manually entering my contacts into my Arrive. (I was okay with this since half of my contacts were from previous jobs and did not need to stay)

Does Windows Phone 7 support the MyPhone service? - Microsoft Answers

That was what I found doing the web research myself since there is no official description on how to Sync contacts or Calendar. There is a whole new elaborate program for syncing music, videos and pictures though, all the important stuff I suppose #-o. I have almost 1,000 contacts and there is no way I am typing them in again myself...

I don't have the phone yet but don't you use Zune Software for PC to sync your phone up with Outlook? They have the same software for Macs to sync up to WP7's.

The only Outlook syncing available is via wireless exchange, which I have through work thank god.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0; HTC; T7575))

This Zune software is pretty cool as far as music and video etc. Reminds of iPhone and iTunes.

Re: Whose getting it?

I stopped by the Sprint store yesterday to check out HTC Arrive and decided to wait for now. I wasn't impressed enough to get the phone and sign a new 2yr contract. I think I'm going to wait for the next WP7 with similar keyboard and hopefully the 4G. Keyboard felt a little odd, the slide part wasn't too bad but what really determined my decision on having to wait a little while longer is the fact that internet was just as dog slow as it is on my 3G TP2.
