4mb, 6mb SD / SDHC Cards on PPC6700/WM6??

The answer to this ? has been hit/miss. Can we get confirmation that we can use larger than 2gb cards with the WM6 rom on the 6700.

Yes up to 6GB cards will be possible. 8GB cards are not available yet but are expected to work as well.

Yep just use the SDHC drivers found in the forum and it should work.

IMHO, going forward the SDHC drivers should probably be in all the new cooked ROMs, etc. There is really no good reason not to have it...

Last I read the SDHC drivers caused quite a few problems with the old non-SDHC cards, which virtually all 6700 owners have. That seems like a pretty good reason to make em optional. My 4GB card works just fine with the existing drivers.

Has anyone actually tested a 6gb SDHC card?
On some of the other threads, all were saying that they should work but no one actually had a 6gb SDHC card to test with.

Well one thought on putting the SDHC drivers into the rom, it causes issues with non-SDHC 4gb memory cards. Quite a few people have had an issue with it.

I'm not sure if anyone has tested the 6GB SDHC card yet. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes?

The drivers work fine for my SDHC cards and my non-SDHC cards. I only have SanDisk an ADATA cards though...

The earlier posted drivers did not work for my 6GB card (the card was recognized but only reported 2GB capacity). But, I tracked down newer ones that so far appear to be working fine for my 6GB SDHC and 1GB SD cards--this driver has been reported to work with 8GB as well so we appear to be good to go heading forward.

But regardless, the kitchen will give you the choice of the stock drivers or the SDHC ones just in case of any problems. It's very easy to offer both options--that way everyone is happy.

Hey luv2chill,

Would you mind posting those newer sdhc drivers for the rest of us to try

Also, what brand sdhc card do you have, and is it Micro with an adapter?

Finally, do you think those drivers will work with WM5?

Thanks so much!
