Bricked????

Tried doing the Wm6 update w/o reverting to the original rom. I know this is a bad move (now at least). The upgrade went most of the way through then gave an error telling me to retry the upgrade.
The screen of the pda said the upgrade was complete however so I tried resetting the device.
The screen went blank and now does not respond.

Any suggestions?
I have tried downgrading, and I receive either a 101 connection failed or a message stating the update was not designed for my device.
I have tried hard reseting no luck
Cant get into bootloader.
mtty cannot connect either.

Is there a solution of last resort? Has this become a target to bring to the rifle range now?

Thanks for any help

Rich

ARE YOU SURE you cant get into bootloader? Cuz that is pretty bad.... BAD

Well, I'm no OMFGTROUBLESHOOTINGEXPERT but I'd take out the battery and sd card and let it sit for a bit. Try getting the official ROM from utstar.com

Try it again...

Like I said- I dont know everything about these issues... so someone put better info for this poor guy! you dont want all that money going down the drain

good luck

well, if nothing else, maybe we can send this to helmi_c? Keep trying to get it in bootloader mode and keep trying the official download. Good Luck.

Well left it over night with no battery and tried again. No luck.... The charge light comes on if I plug it in but it disappears when it would switch from red to orange.

Cant bring up bootloader or hard reset so I think I am sunk.

Any other suggestions or should I start shopping?

Rich

are you really supposed to downgrade your rom to the standard rom before upgrading to WM6?

I haven't moved to WM6 yet but I didn't know that.

this is the 1st I have heard of downgrading before uograding to wm6.....I went from 1.0.4 kitchen straight to wm6 ROM with no problem. That just doesnt make sense to me. I shouldn't matter what rom you're currently using, the new rom is overwriting.

It was one of those suggestions for safety sake.

I have never downgraded before, but since this time i shot myself in the foot, it seems like I probably should have.

If you can't get into the bootloader....you own a good looking papweight.

Downgrading before upgrading wouldn't have helped you, and as general statement is not necessary as a preparoty step.

If you bricked your unit you may be the ONLY person to ever do so... it's nearly impossible to make these units unusable to that degree... why not give us an exact breakdown of what you have been doing so far i.e., tell us how you are putting it into bootloader, tell us the exact order of the steps you are taking etc.?
