TOP 6700 programs

Hey I am new to this and do say search I have looked all over and read most every thing and the links dont work..

What are the top programs to download for the 6700 so far I have

Wisbar Advance
ILauncher
SPB Pocket Plus
Wisbar desktop,
weather panel
phone alarm

what are other good ones to get also how or what is the last call program and how do I make my numbers on my dialer biger so i can use my finger?

Also can I use the GPS reciver in my phone for GPS softwear to find my way around?

Lastly i am sure you have all seen the question asked is wm6 safe to dl yet and use?

crayonbreaker 09-15-2007 07:01 PM

forgot a few

Also how do you get rid of the crap programs that you dont want such as the sprint store and audible also is there any way to get the sprint on demand program on the 6700.

Also what is the radio program every one speaks of?

weedahoe 09-15-2007 09:06 PM

First of all, I use the Vista II dialer from here. It has the bigger buttons you speak of.

Yes, you will need an external GPS module such as the Holux 240 which you can find here although other people will share with you what receivers and software they use as well.

WM6 is for testing the last time I read the full thread. Some bugs were known at the time of the release and more bugs are still being reported. Is it safe to use. Yes it is safe but it is not finished being developed and optimized.

The radio app I use I have listed below but it is pretty good IMHO. I can listen to preset stations (a lot of them) or I can add them as I want by supplying the URL. You also can record the music and playback at a later time if you want.

The apps I use on my phone are as follows.

AntonTomov Pocket Mechanic v2.61.204
Conduits Technologies Pocket Player v3.2
IM+ Mobile Messenger v4.33
Makayama Pocket Live TV v1.0
MemMaid v1.72
MS VCMD 1.6
Pocket Hack Master
PocketWeather 1.3.6
Resco Explorer v6.10
Resco Photoviewer Pro v6.33
Resco Radio v1.71
Socket Wi-Fi Companion 2.10.4
SOTI Pocket Controller Pro 6
Wisbar Advance Desktop v1.0.0.5
Wisbaravd 2.6.0.8

welcome to the club. Eight months ago when I bought my first PPC I was wondering what exactly I can do with a brick of a phone.

With the lineup you got there I highly recommend you stick to either wisbar adv, spb pocket plus or ilauncher; you defintely don't need all three of those programs. Also Wisbar desktop may significantly slow down performance, and from personal experience not that easy to use... you might consider uninstalling that.

The last call program is a today screen option included with O2 task manager that displays that last call you made/recieved/missed. If you search for it you'll find it somewhere on here.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think you're confusing the phone's radio with a radio program. Everyone is talking about their phone radio the component of the phone that gives you voice/data service.

Weedahoe's got a nice lineup of apps. Those are pretty much all the apps you would ever need or desire even...lol

Also stay away from Sprint On demand. They'll just charge you for a subscription fee while many other programs can get you the same content for free.

What kinds of things are you looking to do with your ppc? Almost anything is possible (within reason).

Catman51 09-15-2007 10:29 PM

Wisbar, Ilauncher, PocketBreeze are three that you definitely need. Toss up between Agenda Fusion and Pocket Informant, I use the latter.

crayonbreaker 09-15-2007 11:29 PM

what do i want to do

well I really would like to make it as useful as possible I would like the weather and all that fun stuff also I will be using it for gps at some point and in the end I would like to go to wm6.

some of the things that I have ran into and have trouble with is moving programs from my computer to my phone and getting rid of all the extra crap they put on here (using my 6700 to write this)

lastly I liked the ondemand as I have unlimited use of all the functions for free with my plan and I liked how I could search for stuff by my location such as movies showing closest to me and stuff like that is there a program out there that offers this?

crayonbreaker 09-15-2007 11:33 PM

for got to ask

for got to ask is there any way to update the ie on the phone also can you get java run time and flash I guess I just want to be able to see utube and other sites of that type

sorry for all the noob questions its just every link you try to click doesn't work becaues the server changed format

oh ya were can you get a copy of weather panel and slide to lock

ksg 09-15-2007 11:38 PM

roms

I'm not to keen on making my own rom and will end up killin my phone if I do but does any one have a rom that has all of the base programs in it also can some one refer me to a link that works on the basics of cabs and roms also if I do install these will the phone still revert back to factory if I do the hard restart.

search buttons your friend but I'm doing this on my phone and it would take for ever to read them all so any help would be great thanks

crayonbreaker 09-16-2007 12:16 AM

jar and jad

do they work on these phones cuz I can't get them to work

badfrog 09-16-2007 09:20 AM

I would go to WM6 first, it will free up a lot of memory and (at least on my verizon) it runs a lot more stable than WM5. I dont have nearly many black screens, etc

weedahoe 09-16-2007 09:41 AM

Im not sure I would tell a noob to go to WM6 as it is stil in testing phase and bugs are still being reported and found. The overall co-existance with 3rd party apps just isnt fully there yet. I do agree with getting a clean ROM so have freed room however.

So I say that to say this, my vote is on Kirvins Clean & Simple 3.5 1.02 which can be found here.

JAD and JAR require something like Midlet Manager

crayonbreaker 09-16-2007 10:07 PM

is there a rom out there that is premade that offers a midlet and all the other programs listed before?

unitypunk 09-17-2007 02:23 AM

Pocket Controler is a MUST HAVE for ANY ppc.

check it out

weedahoe 09-17-2007 07:35 AM

I agree, Pocket Control has worked very well for me when I am doing screenshots or recording the screens activity. I also so it for doing txt msgs sometimes as well.

Fosters 09-17-2007 09:40 AM

What, counterstrike didn't make the cut? I thought that's what everyone bought their 6700 for :p

Mymobiler is very nice too and free! It allows you move your mouse from your desktop computer to your ppc screen.

No offense weedahoe, but this comes up a lot...

Exactly what room do you all think is being freed up w/ a clean & simple ROM? sure, the crap-ware from the carrier is gone, but you hardly need to flash a new rom to do that. Clean and Simple has nothing to do with making room - it's the most wasteful of space of all the custom ROMs. I mean, seriously, if you want a clean and simple ROM your goal is stability at the expense of extra software. Extra memory shouldn't be a concern for you.

And no, you don't get to use the extra space that all that left-out software occupied - it's just wasted.

But I will say this...if you're a clean and simple kind of person, then WM6 is not for you. Maybe in a couple of years.

Gguruusa, no offense taken, we are all here to educate and be educated. I do not proclaim to know everything nor even alot. I only speak on what I have tried and works for me.

With that said, I have tried several custom ROMs and I have went back to the one I mentioned earlier because of the stability and the preformance of it. Most of the hacks I do to the phone (to increase performance and stabilty) are already done in the ROM. But sure, there are still a few that I have to do manually.

I have flashed many phones and I have never had any issues out of this ROM. I do however have a second phone which I test things on and it is currently up to WM6. Do I like it? No, I do not. Even though I am appreciative of the work put into it and its release, I know it still has too many bugs for me at this time.

You asked a Q of what room do I think is really being cleaned up? I am referring to Memory Storage space and Memory Program space. Either way though, it does supply the advantage of not having all the crapware and paves me the way to install what I want.

Sure, if I use WM6 (with a lot of the apps already built-in) I can delete the link in \Windows\Start\Programs and pretend it isnt there. I can also remove the .lnk or .exe from starting up but that doesnt actually remove the application from the ROM itself.

So this is why I continue to use the ROM that I do. These are only my personal decisions and reflections.

While the clean and simple does start with a trace (it really is slight) more memory being available, that advantage is most likely immediately lost by the end-user installing the very thing which was removed from the ROM to gain that space. Furthermore, it doesn't make any difference if an applicaton is in the ROM if you aren't running it - unless you want to bake something else into the ROM in its place (which is anti-C&S philosophy and certainly something you can't do if you're using a ready-made ROM). Truthfully, I think a lot of people believe that the mere presence of an applicaton in ROM is somehow deliterious, and that's just wrong.

All the kitchen ROMs have the crap-ware removed, so that's not a competitive advantage for any kitchen based ROM over another.

What I think is good about the C&S Roms is they load very little if any of the fancy user-interface stuff (which is typically where all the instability comes from). Beyond that, the rest of the C&S concept is silly.

As for ROM selection... I've tried them all, and I mean ALL of them...and they are all decent - (although not a fan of C&S) but my favorite ROM thus far is located here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=8029

Had 5 6700's over a span of time (since it first came out) ...and the biggest failure of the phones (for me) has always been at the time of power loss.

Check Egress.

saqer 09-20-2007 02:58 PM

in addition to newsbreak and egress, which are both really great btw you can try

hubdog
pocketrss
SPB Insight

Personally I've found Egress or Newsbreak to be the best and take leave a small footprint

Catman51 09-20-2007 04:45 PM

Pocketrss was good way back when the developer was around. I wrote to him with a problem a year ago, still waiting for an answer.
There was an update to it coming that never appeared and the last post by him on the site was November '06.

vetvito 09-20-2007 05:45 PM

Best Programs for the 6700:

1-2-Remote (Controls your PC Media player or Itunes on your 6700)
PPC Tablet (control your entire pc even mouse with your 6700)
Novi Remote
MorphGear (all modules, and they all work with wm6)
HTC Customizer
6700 KB fix (allows multiple keypresses, great for games)

1st post!

Kalnel 09-20-2007 09:33 PM

Several of the programs I use are in the new WM6 ROM, but I've also added these:

Pocket Informant
Flexmail
Mobipocket
eReader
TCPMP 0.72RC1 (I need this for YouTube -- the newer one doesn't work for me)
Skunkworks Flash Video Bundle
Pocket LAN
Think Outside drivers (for BT keyboard and mouse)
Google Maps
GS Player
Real Player

And a ton of Spb programs:
Spb Mobile Shell
Spb Phone Suite
Spb Finance
Spb Insight
Spb Pocket Plus
Spb Diary
Spb Weather
Spb Time
Spb Wallet
Spb GPRS Monitor
Spb Backup

I'm looking forward to the kitchen ROM (I've never tried it before) so I can add some of the key programs into the ROM.

gopher2011 10-05-2007 01:48 AM

1.) NewsBreak - http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/nw/nb_trial.php
2.) Viigo - http://virtualreach.com/download.htm

NewsBreak has been an easy to use reader with Podcast support. Excellent support for import/export of .opml files!

I have a 6700 and I wonna know if I download the pacman game from above do I have to do anything to my phone to play it if so what? those are a lot of programns listedabove what all do they do?

weedahoe 02-08-2008 08:48 AM

There are way too many apps out there to tell you what they do. If you have a specific Q about one or two then we can answer that. It is better sometimes to tell us what it is you want to do and then we can suggest apps accordingly. As for the Pacman game, just download the .exe or the .cab file and install it. Just remember that .exe get installed on the PC itself whereas .cabs must be file transfered to the PPC and installed.
