Part Needed: Front Panel Buttons

The joystick on my PPC-6700 is broken and I am looking to see if anyone would be willing to sell me just that board so I can replace it without having to buy an entire parts phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Tyler

For quite a while I was supplementing my income by buying lots of broken xv6700s, fixing them & then reselling them on ebay, so I'm a pro when it comes to disassembly, reassembly, parts, etc. That being said, the function pad is one of the most commonly damaged parts on the apache. This is because it protrudes past the edge of the phone and people often put pressure on the phone either by putting it in their pockets or by placing it face down & inadvertently putting pressure on it.

I don't have any working pads left. I have some of the joysticks that sit on top of the pad, but no pad, and the pad is most likely what you need.

I had a similar incident, fell on my bike and pushed the joystick in to the point that it barely worked.

I brought my PPC6700 in to the sprint store and they replaced my joystick and likely the circuit board beneath it. Additionally, the tech tightened my battery door as well as the keyboard.

Hopefully you bought the insurance and can do the same!

It was kinda funny. My 6700 out of the box had a fubar joystick and I never even knew it until the phone actually broke and I got my replacement. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the joystick was actually supposed to be loose and click easily! lol

Re: Part Needed: Front Panel Buttons

i have 2 ppc6700's with the same problem. both were damaged the same way. fell out of my shirt pocket face down to the ground. now the joysticks are stuck in the pressed position. bullcrap! i guess it's a no brainer that "the function pad" that verizonguy mentioned is the problem.... o well.

Re: Part Needed: Front Panel Buttons

I quite possibly might have an extra phone that I could part out.

Im currently using a 6700. I have a spare phone thats actually in nicer condition than the one I use. Im getting a replacement phone from sprint within the next couple of days. If I am upgraded to the mogul Ill sell you whatever you need from the 6700. If I get another 6700 Im not gonna want to get rid of it though. Ill keep you posted.

Re: Part Needed: Front Panel Buttons

I bought mine used off ebay. NONE of the buttons worked the joystick kinda worked but was sticking. I to.... Rip it out so now im missing the OK, Windows and the joystick. Plus i tore the to lights off seeing as how they were useless to begin with. I get by fine with out the buttons working with the stylus and the keyboard.
