Touchscreen Randomly Aligns Funny

Okay, I have tried this on 3 different PPC-6700s, and several different ROMs. With every ROM I use that is not a "Sprint" ROM my touchscreen randomly goes way out of wack and is as much as 1" off of where the stylus is actually touching. Some days I have to realign it every couple minutes, and other days it is fine. I am most recently trying the WM6 by Helmi. Is anyone else running into this issue? Am I doing something wrong here?

I appreciate your help, I am a longtime reader, first time poster. I look forward to your help!

alignment

I took mine in for this. I am waiting on a replacement. Someone here at Geeks told me it is because of a deadspot on the screen. It is frustrating.

Not sure if its the same issue I have, but I found that if I get "junk" between the screen and the black bezel around the screen....I run into horrible screen alignment issues. I usually slide a piece paper between the screen and the bezel, clean out all the pocket lint, and the problem goes away.

I've returned a phone for this as well....new phone didn't have issue. Although, the lint suggestion was good....that mighta been the problem ;)

I have this issue intermittently with me phone. It was the 5th I tried - all the refurb screens were lousy. This was a NIB unit. Go figure.

this is the problem I get as well. it's a design flaw... the fitting around the screen should be tight enough to prevent things getting in there. But it's not.

I never thought to try this... You have improved my screen alignment amazingly well...

I also have had this same issue. I don't know what kind of cases or holsters you guys use, if any... but I traced my screen misalignment down to the holster I was using for my 6700. Before I really noticed the misalignment issue I always noticed that as I inserted my PDA into the holster, the magnet that kept the flap down somehow interfered with my phone. It sometimes switched it on and even turned it to landscape mode! WTF?? Soon after, I noticed screen misalignment issues like crazy. I had to realign several times per day. Ever since I stopped using that case... no more screen issues!

I found this thread with a search, and wow, what a simple fix. I shoulda thought of it myself, but that's what I love about this site, the answers are here if you look! It turned out in my case it was a lint issue, rather than a magnetic catch(I wear mine screen-in)
Thanks, ewentworth!

Keep it out of a tight pocket!

I found out after extensive testing/cursing fits that keeping the 6700 in the pocket of my jeans was ok as long as I remembered to 1. turn it off everytime before pocketing and 2. scrape the lint from around the bezel every couple of days. If you forget to turn it off it keeps rubbing against the pocket/your leg and really pisses it off! I finally broke down and got a "universal" verizon pouch that works rather well minus leaving the antenna and stylus out in the wind.... just my 1.999999 cents!
