I had the same thing happen to me. The cap was lost. I managed to get it out with a strong pair of tweezers and a lot of effort, but it's kept me from buying or using any of the combination pen-styluses anymore. I think they need to design them with all metal parts and screw-on connectors so they don't just pull apart.

when I get it out, I'm gluing the cap on with crazy glue. Not super glue, I'm too mad to use super glue...

I don't suppose you have a geek screw grabber? I use a tiny one when I work on small electronics and drop screws into tight places... just stick it in, latch on, and pull out

Radioshack *might* carry them in your area.

Be careful about using needle nose pliers on the actual pen end. I attempted to tape the cap onto the stylus, with the thought that it would kill two birds with one stone - hold in the stylus better as well as stop the cap from falling out.

I ended up having to tear at the stylus for about 10 minutes with needle nose, destroying the stylus that was stuck. The ballpoint pen tip can, and likley will if it is stuck well, come apart from the stylus, and begin leaking ink. So just be careful if you try and yank on it, or be ready to make a mess.

I got lucky with mine and the needle nose then, but it did take a scary amount of force to extricate, after that I went back to the one piece solid ones, I have a tendency to drop mine point down on unforgiving surfaces a-lot anyway, so it's just as well I suppose...
