probem with programing phone with verizon
 

I got used VX6700. it has verizon logo on it. I updated ROm to 3.12.30 and radio to 1.41
I activated the phone with verizon, I can place phone call, it sees only 1X. but I am not able to program it *228 opt 1. every time I dial it says: The feature code you entered is invalid, message 116. I spent 4 hours with verizon tech support. they wlaked me through manual programming. it can place and receive phone calls via 1X. but an not see EV. verizon said it sees extended network and not connecting to verizon actually. It has nothing to do with my location, it should on digital signal. what we found out when we did ##778 /edit
that NAM name of the device was CRICKET. I guess this is the problem. even phone has VERIZOn logo, it is programmed somehow to work via cricket network.... any suggestions how to make it work with verizon? Please help.

yes the phone, physically could be branded verizon. it has been flashed to cricket. you need to flash it back to verizon. get a verizon rom. you might have to get a verizon prl as well.

sync your phone, explore your phone thru activesync move the file you downloaded to your storage card(on your ppc).

After which, you need to follow these instructions

Don't use one of the zip files! Use the one you downloaded to your storage card.
When you hit browse, it should come up automatically as it is the only prl file available.

I'm surprised they were so helpful. This seems just the kind of circumstance that makes phone carriers want to shoot rom developers.
Neither your rom version nor your radio are approved by Verizon. The consensus recommendation is to flash back to the official Verizon rom before seeking their assistance.

Thnks everybody. I will try to do what youa dvised and report the results. TMB, I used ROm and radio that work perfectly on the the same model of the phone here.

I updated PRl and now it works perfectly with verizon. what a stupid verizon's Tech support. now I undestand " that makes phone carriers want to shoot rom developers." :)

you need to make sure you select files that is right for your plan.

sync your phone, explore your phone thru activesync move the file you downloaded to your storage card(on your ppc).

After which, you need to follow these instructions

dial ##775 then press talk(send), msl code for verizon 000000
click on PRL, click edit, brows, selct file, click update, thenok to reset.

I had no problem with updating through *228 with this new rom. Did you activate the phone before you did the software upgrade, or did you upgrade then do the phone activation/programming?

I second this post. I recently had someone buy a phone off ebay and bring it to me because they had the triangle in the top part of thier screen and could make calls but not receive. I flashed it to Kirvins C&S 3.5 and got the same issue. So I went to the VZW OEM ROM @ UTStar and flashed with that. After that point everything worked fine. The phone could send and receive calls. Once I got all that working I upgraded back to Kirvins C&S 3.5 and then did reg tweaks. Works like new now.

yes, it wa snot the rom problem. phone belonged to cricket befoe, even had verizon logo onit. I needed to update PRL. it solved the problem.
