Thanks everyone.... I guess I'll stick with my Sandsik 2GB miniSD and avoid all the headaches...
|
I've been using a "no-name" 4 gb card since March. You don't have to partition it, but you DO have to format it as FAT32.
I currently have 3.8 gig on it and I've really not had any issues at all with the card. I shuffle music on and off of it every few weeks and no problems. I can't get my bluetooth stereo headset to work without the music "stuttering" though and since I have a new custom ROM I don't think it's the old a2d2 problem. Probably my headset (cheap), but I've always wondered if perhaps it is because the card is slow. Don't know. Anyway, good luck. |
I have been using a TopRam 4Gb miniSD card for almost three months without any problems (although only about 1.7 GB is used). I have never gone over 2GB so I don't know wht, if anything would happen if I did.

4GB Topram in FAT32 and FAT16 works w/ PPC6700.
The problem is, there are some software that dont realize miniSD larger than 2Gigs exist; hence, causing some errors. One example is the HTC camera, it shows that there are no space left on the card, eventhough it's still 3.5Gigs Free :D. But if a dummy files is used to make it < 2gb, it works fine. That's why some user suggest it to partition it to 2Gigs; mainly for compatibility with some softwares. But that was my experience since > 6months ago. Maybe all those problematic softwares got smarter after the ROM/version update 8) . |
anyone running helmi's WM6 ROM on their 6700 have any feedback on the 4g MiniSD cards?
Also, is read/write speed a major issue other than when transferring to/fromt he desktop? I have a SanDisk 1g in my 6700 now that I got from either newegg or tigerdirect, can't remember.. and have decided I need more storage if I want to install something like tomtom navigator and its maps.. I |
Re: Highest capacity miniSD card for Apache?
I'm pretty new to the Apache; I've only had it for a couple days, but with all the research I've done and threads that I've read i was under the impression that there should be no problems with any size miniSD or miniSDHC card out there... Have you guys updated your Apache's to WM6.1? I guess this thread is a few months old, but the Kitchen has an option for SDHC compatibility... Try that! My only concern is the compatibility of microSD to miniSD adapters + HC + 8GB? or maybe even 16GB? I think microSD has a larger card than miniSD? Anyone know about that?

Only issue is with the camera. Unless you have less than 2gig free on the card, you can not write to the card directly from the camera app (you can choose Storage Card as your source to save the pictures you take with the camera but it won't save them there). I run TomTom from the main memory with the Entire USA Maps on the Storage Card (about 2.5gig worth of map data). I use TomTom about 3 or 4 times a week. Works perfectly. |
Re: Highest capacity miniSD card for Apache?
Yeah, over at XDA there are threads of ppl using the SDHC drivers and running 8 and 16gb cards so I am sure it cant be done. I just have no need for that type of storage space.

Re: Highest capacity miniSD card for Apache?
SDHC is not cheap enough for me yet, but concerning stuttering I find that if I connect my headset then turn it off and close out of my music program if it is running the turning my headset back on then going to my music program of choice that the stuttering stops.
Sometimes it will stutter if the headset battery is low. |
