For those that need a personalized OEM for their ROMS!!!!!

If you are making your own ROM and have been trying to figure out how to get your personal settings in the ROM automatically, here is a customized personal OEM for you.
With this OEM you can accomplish a lot of things, some examples below:
skip the welcome screen (bypassing stylus calibration, timezone, etc)
change where the ROM looks for your config.txt file (enables you to run cabs, copy files, etc during boot using a Boot folder on your SD card). If you have ever used a ROM from colonel, you will have seen this before and now you will know how it is done.
enter timezone information, owner name, etc
set your today screen display
add your serials for software so u dont have to after ROM is flashed
and many more........
This OEM was originally created by Colonel, I added some more reg entries and detailed instructions to make it usable for the masses.

How this works: (You will need to export your registry to accomplish this)
1. Download the zip file and extract the OEM
2. Open the rgu file in the OEM with notepad
3. Read the instructions at the top of the file and follow them.
4. Move the OEM into the OEM folder in the kitchen.
5. It comes up under carrier customize in kitchen and is named "sprint customize". THIS DOES NOT MEAN IT IS SPRINT ONLY!!!!!!!
5. Build a new ROM and you are done.

It is very basic and I can confirm it works.
As with all stuff on this website, everything you do is at your own risk.
I am always in the chat room if MORE info is needed.
Enjoy.

EDIT: It would be really cool if someone could create this as an application that would ask you questions and set a customize rgu for you. Programmers please take a look at this even if you already have your personal OEM.

An application for this would be doable, but time consuming with all those settings, hehe. For settings like calibration and skipping the welcome it's a simple checkbox, but when you get into clock settings and anything else with multiple settings each one needs some form of user input.

I can get started on this, but it'll be a day or two before I have anything useable with all the options available.

Thanks Tiermann, that would be awesome and a good start. The basic 2-3 sets of options could be dealt with now and then we could probably just keep on working on it till its better. Like i said I am in the chat room always and so is Colonel or Luv2chill, give a holla and I will test anything u have.
Thanks for taking a look into this.

Thanks one and all

I always wondered how you guys got around entering serial numbers for some of your ROMs. You guys are simply fantastic with your ideas. Keep up the great work.

How do I export my registry? I just did a quick search and didn't find much...

Any thing in there I don't need; can I remove it? or does it have to stay in the file anyway?

To export your registry you will need a registry editor. Resco explorer, there is 1 in task manager and also in total commander. All of these are in the kitchen. You will need your own serial for resco though.
Using the registry editor and the path given in the rgu you can navigate tru. press and hold on the reg key and you will see options to export the reg.

If you do not need something in the rgu i stated in the instructions that you can comment it out by placing ';' in front of the reg. It is much better to do that than to delete it. This is also a way for you to understand a little bout windows mobile or registry editing.

Here's a quick preview of what the app for this will look like.

Still a few more categories to add and the "guts" of it still need to be written, but it's getting there.
