Cricket xv6700 MMS and WAP settings that work
Here are the setting I used on my xv6700 that work. I also have a V3m that I put a Monster Cricket flash on that has clicks and all. This came from Howards but I cant remember who posted it. Sorry
DP 1. Create a custom extended rom. By creating a custom extended rom, you're saving a lot of headache when it comes to hard resets. Your phone will automatically install the MMS program (which you normally have to install manually, or with a bunch of unnecessary verizon garbage). Here's how to do it: 1. Download the zip file located ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Users/Cell...omUnlocker.cab ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Users/Cell...rom_unlock.exe 2. Copy the two unlockers onto your phone. 3. Install the PPCgeeks unhider utility, then the APA unlocker onto your phone. 4. Perform a soft reset. 5. Navigate to your extended rom folder. 6. Back up this folder onto either your memory card, or your computer. 7. Delete the entire contents of the folder. 8. Overwrite with the contents of the Custom Rom folder from the zip file you just downloaded. 9. Perform a hard reset on your phone. After the Operating system loads, you'll be prompted to align your touchscreen, update the time, etc. Once finished with that, the customizations will load. Allow this to happen, but watch the progress and make sure it only installs apache_VZW_MMS3.0.6.24. If it installs other stuff, you did something incorrectly (most likely, you didn't open the APA rom unlocker utility). 2. Unlock the MMS server Copy badutahboy MMS Server Unlocker (attached below) to your phone and execute it. It is in my FTP under Apache ans cellfreak. Thanks Budatahboy ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Users/Cell...r%20Unlock.cab 3. Set up the MMS Server. 1. Get into your MMS program (click "no unread messages" on the today screen) 2. Click Menu in the bottom right of the application, then MMS configuration. 3. Click on the Servers tab at the bottom of the page. 4. Click on the server shown, usually named "Verizon" or "Verizon MMS" 5. Change the settings as follows: Server name: Anything you want to call it. I call mine Cricket MMS Gateway: leave blank Port Number: 8080 Server Address: Http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms Connect Via: The internet Sending Size Limitation: 350K WAP: WAP 2.0 6. Click ok, and exit MMS. 4. EPST changes 1. Access EPST by dialing ##778 from your phone dialer, then inputting your security code (000000 if you have a verizon phone. If you're using sprint, you need to unlock your phone. I can't help you there.) 2. Once the page loads, click on the security tab in the dropdown menu. 3. Change the HDR AUTH USER ID and PPP User ID all to yourphonenumber@mycricket.com . Your phone number is input in numbers only, IE 8015551212@mycricket.com and the password to cricket for both. 4. Click on M.IP settings in the dropdown menu at the top of the screen. 5. Change the Number of profiles to 1, and change MIP mode to "Simple IP only" 6. Press ok. The phone will soft reset. 5. Set up your modem connection. 1. Click start, then settings. 2. Click on the connections tab at the bottom of the page. 3. Click on the connections Icon near the top of the page. 4. Click on "Add a new modem connection" under "My ISP" 5. Name your connection anything you want. Click Next 6. Input #777 for the phone number. Click Next. 7. Username is yourphonenumber@mycricket.com (again, digits only, IE 8015551212@mycricket.com) Password is cricket Click Finish. 6. Download a browser for the internet I recommend Opera or Minimo (mozilla for pocketPC). Minimo is free. Opera costs $24. I believe Opera is a better browser, but you can't beat free. (I use opera) Opera can be found at www.opera.com . Download opera 8.6 for pocketPC. Minimo 0.2 can be found here: pc loader http://www.meer.net/~dougt/minimo_ce/MinimoCE_0.2.exe Once you've got your browser installed (make sure you install it to the device, not to a memory card), Follow the directions for whichever browser you're using. A. Opera 1. Open your browser 2. Click Menu in the bottom right of your screen, then tools, then settings. 3. Click on the network tab at the bottom of the page. 4. Check the boxes for both HTTP and HTTPS under proxy, and type in wap.mycricket.com:8080 in both of the boxes to the side. 5. Click ok and exit. B. Minimo 1. Open your browser 2. Click on the button marked with a "..." in the bottom right. (you might have to click it twice), then click preferences. 3. Click on the orange button at the top of the screen, that looks like an electical plug. 4. Check the box next to Use Proxy. Under URL input wap.mycricket.com and under port put 8080. 5. Click save at the top right, then exit. 7. Get cricket's PRL on the phone. There are two primary ways to accomplish this.. manually, or via OTASP (over the air service programming). I like to put the PRL on manually, because it makes OTASP easier, but you don't have to. To add the PRL manually, dial ##775 on your phone dialer, press send, then click on update PRL. you'll need the PRL on your phone or a memory card (hint: activesync makes this easy). Simply use the browse feature to navigate to wherever the PRL is stored, and update it from there. PRL is attached below. Note: 1039 is not the most current PRL, but you'll update it with OTASP. Once you've manually loaded the PRL, just dial *228 or *228xx (the xx represents two digits which vary from one cricket market to another. To identify the correct digits for your market, use this post. Cricket's OTASP system is unreliable at best, and you may have to try several times before it tells you it was successful in programming the phone. I would try *228xx first, and only try *228 if you're unsuccessful after several attempts. the reason for this is that I've had my phone connect to verizon for programming via *228 a few times. This is also why I like to manually load the PRL onto the phone. If you dial *228 from an unmodded cricket phone, you WILL go to verizon, and sometimes *228xx won't work on a phone with the verizon PRL still loaded.

Hey admin/mods...
Will you remove this post please? 1. I'm the original author of this tutorial, and it was reposted without credit given. 2. It's all irrelevant. If someone is using one of the kitchen's, nearly all of these settings are built into the kitchen. I'm not trying to be a jerk because my work was posted without permission... I'd be happy to leave it, but 90% of the information is totally useless now that there's a cricket extrom in the kitchen. |
