ActiveSync will not start
![]() I just got my shiny new PAC6700 and ActiveSync will not run at all! It tries to start (I see it in task manager) and then shuts down. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall with no luck. I have checked out the event viewer (Windows CEP) and found this DCOM error that can't start one of the ActiveSync components: Event Type: Error Event Source: DCOM Event Category: None Event ID: 10010 Date: 9/12/2006 Time: 9:05:15 AM User: LHI\rash Computer: IBM-RASH Description: The server {ED081FA25-6A77-4CA89-B6BA9-CA6EAE5CA582ECU1} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Can someone PLEASE help? Thanks much! |

Got it!!
![]() Just so you know.... I have a laptop that is connected to a work domain. The more searching that I did, the more the error codes in the event viewer was pointing me in the direction that the problem was related to a corrupt security policy from the network but... Just for shits and giggles, I tried a few things including removing IE7 (latest version) and BAM! Everything was right in the world. It seems that with the install of IE7, it disables a lot of back end functions like installs being able to register a DCOM object like ActiveSync (and others). YIPPEE!! |

I've been having intermittent trouble where either ActiveSync 4.2 won't connect or I get a USB Device Not Recognized error message when I put my 6700 in the cradle. Any suggestions about where to look for causes.
Sometimes after the not recognized error, I can get it to work by unplugging/replugging the USB cabel, but not always. Soft reset didn't help either. |

argh--I'm pulling my hair out.
Sometimes ActiveSync works perfectly but latley I've been getting either: -USB device not recognized -Synch failure -unable to connect to device -Soft reset & unplugging the USB acble helps sometimes but not always. -Reinstalled ActiveSync -deleted the pairing in ActiveSync & created a new one -the activeSync troubleshooter passed all the tests -the MS website said sometimes the problem can be from a missing repl.dat file in the Profiles folder, but I don't have that folder or that file in my ActiveSync folder. What else should I do? |
