Are u using a extended battery?

I was just wondering how many ppl are using the extended battery. And if u aren't do u have problems with battery life? And those are, how much extra life do u get out of it? I am currently not using one but have thought about it. But I try and charge it when not in use. But I use mine all the time, and I last about 6-8 hours on a full charge.
Thx,
Mike

I thought about it but I decided to sacrifice battery life rather than size. The 6700 is big enough I am not going to make it any bigger.

Wideawake 06-12-2006 04:26 PM

 that's exactly the reason I haven't picked one up.

wingzero 06-12-2006 10:54 PM

I am with your guys on this one. I really like the battery to have more juice to last a day without charging it. But this extended battery really makes the phone STICKS out. Who said SIZE doesn't matter? :D

Big D5 06-12-2006 10:56 PM

I have one but I don't use it much. I use it most when I am flying some where. Otherwise it just makes the phone to heavy.

Wideawake 06-12-2006 11:08 PM

that would be a good time to have one, but I don't fly much. I actually have a fear of heights. acrophobia :)

I have not looked at it that closely.... I thought about it and then ended up picking up a dock for work instead, so now I just charge more often.

Malatesta 06-13-2006 12:14 AM

I'm like Big D5: have one (Seidio 2400) but don't use it often. It is kinda big but more importantly, I found I didn't even come close to using it to it's potential.

So I'll keep it for those emergency weekends or special occasions.

I'm planning on picking up the Lion Battery 1500 just for a little extra boost but stock size (plus it has the mysterious 'metal plate' which may or may not improve reception...)

Sonin66 06-13-2006 01:26 AM

i thought about getting one, but thought that the normal battery was just fine. i would use one if the price wasnt so high

olddog 06-13-2006 02:14 AM

I've thought about getting an extra battery because the battery life is so poor. But instead I'm going to get a car charger and an extra charger for work. I have seen a couple on ebay for around $10-15. Any recommendations?

Rufus 06-13-2006 02:21 AM

iGo and iTips from RadioShack are SuperSweet. You kind of need multiple phones to justify the $3X.xx price. They are pretty cool though.

I and another users at SprintUsers have been very happy with both this seller and his product:

USB Cradle + Car Charger + AC Charger

The Desktop Charger/USB Cradle is just really cool. The 6700 lays flat in it (actually at a 45 degree angle) so that you can slide out the keyboard and type on it like a laptop  . Really neat.

Great price, fast shipping and everything works. :thumbright:

Wideawake 06-13-2006 07:43 AM

wow that cradle looks pretty cool. I actually don't even use the cradle that came with it, because it doesn't look to secure I mean it doesn't really have any tracks to line up before sliding in, which I'm scared I will break the charging piece in the end of the phone. So I just use the usb. That's just me though.

This is the exact one that I bought as well. I love it. The only problem with it is in my work environment, people always ask me what the "Blue Stick" is. (The stylus is lit up when the cradle is plugged in.)

Very nice though.

This cradle / charger looks kinda hot. Wish I'd seen it before wasting money on that fugly extended battery.

e-dub 03-07-2007 11:10 PM

i couldn't imagine not using an extended battery. mind you, i live in a bad signal area, and have a seido 3200 mah and the lion battery 2800 mah models.

I have the $5 ebay extended battery and door. It's pretty big and I rarely use it, but for $10 (with shipping) I have an extra battery when I need it. I'm sure I'll need it sometime.

Alwaysbelieve1 03-08-2007 12:45 AM

I use the standard because I don't want to increase the size of my phone any further. I did think about getting the Seido one that is the same size as the standard, but just don't have money for it right now.

Mine seems to last most my day if I charge it to and from work it is fine. I don't really talk on the phone that much at all as I mostly use it for emails and texts.

dannzeman 03-08-2007 01:33 AM

If I was going to get one I'd get an extended battery that was the same size as the original so it wouldn't make it any fatter. There's no way I could justify making this thing any bigger. I use wifi and/or evdo quite a bit during the day, play games, and talk for less than an hour on it. I also have the backlight as bright as it will go and it lasts from 8am till about 6pm on a full charge. There are days when its about to go dead around 3 or 4pm and then I wish I had an extended battery but oh well.

When I searched Seido's <sp> site, I couldn't tell which one was the extended battery that was the same size as the original.

The one I purchased is the giant one and I got it off eBay.

The cradle thay came with the 6700 stays at home and I have a car charger.

The cradle pictured in the above link, I'd buy 2 of them - replace the one at work and have one for home.

The cradle I currently have would probably get shifted to my night stand.

I do a lot of texting and surfing from my phone; like I'm doing right now.

Having the Stowaway BT Keyboard & Mouse is another plus.

schettj 03-08-2007 02:25 AM

I just got an extra oem batt for flights and such, and have a usb cable @ work & a car charger in my car... usually don't need any of them but if I do they allow easy recharges or more run time in a pinch.

allanak 03-08-2007 02:51 AM

Seidio 3200ma battery is fantastic. My phone is huge now, but I figured it was so large to begin with, why the hell not? I've never managed to run this thing all the way down. On the OEM battery, I'd be lucky to go from morning to night. Extended battery for life! :D

JBabey 03-08-2007 03:05 AM

Ive had 3 different extended batteries (free at work) and they all suck complete ass. you get about an extra hour of talk time, but its WAY better to use the stock battery & just do a few battery saving "stuffs" on your phone to make it last

vtigre 03-08-2007 03:45 AM

I just went on ebay. found some dude that does combined shipping discounts and blah. ordered 2 stock batteries, came with an additional car charger, travel charger, and home charger. So I have three batteries charging, the chargers are desktop chargers, i just plug the batteries in without the phone. I have 1 battery charging all the time, 1 extra battery that comes with me anywhere i go, and the regular battery on my phone all the time. Between these three batteries, no problem lol. OH yea, all the extra batters and accessories came out to 12 after shipping.

dping28 03-08-2007 07:31 AM

I have the Siedo 3200MaH extended battery and I cant imagine not using it anymore.. I was constantly being forced to plug it in all the time, now I only plug it in in the car when im using gps or when i go to bed and its in its dock. never get that annoying msg anymore half way thru the day that its shutting down due to no bat life. Mind you i use direct push and such for work.. so thats a big battery killer.

RussMuscle 03-08-2007 09:57 AM

I use my extended battery the same way dping28 does. Before the Extended battery the phone would only get me just over half the day. Now it goes well into the night. :P

verizonguy 03-08-2007 03:10 PM

I bought an extended battery and cover for super cheap on ebay. I hadn't been using it cuz I didn't have a case that would fit it. I just started using it a couple days ago and the battery life is better. i'll feel better after my new casw gets here.

I noticed something odd today in the car. I used my oem car charger for the first time and after 5 min my 6700 popped up with a low battery message. this was most likely due to a crappy charger but I haven't tried that charger with a standard battery to confirm that

Hellion 03-08-2007 03:28 PM

I would like longer battery life, but as I tend to just keep the PPC in my pocket this won't make it any better. Already takes up all me pocket space. I just don't like carrying it on my side.

I can justify the price, even at $30.

I have been through a few adapters (not for USB, this is the first phone I had with USB charging) which have broken rather easily. Those usually sell for $10-$20. The $30 iGo from radioshack is rather durable and unless you really treat your electronics like shit, it will last you forever.

Also of note, I bought a $15 car charger for a phone at a discount location once and it broke the connector on my phone. I was rather upset that I had saved $15 on the charger only to have to spend $60 in repair costs. :(

konceptz 03-08-2007 06:47 PM

1500mAh replacement batter with the same form factor ftw.

TekkieTag 03-08-2007 09:32 PM

I have an extended battery on mine. It's huge, yes, but the fact that I can go through a whole day while only having to charge at night. I keep the slimmer battery around for whenever I might need it, but mostly I use this one.

Can you point me in the direction of this battery you're talking sbout.

If I can get my hands on an extended SLIM battery, I'd gladly give this thick one I just bought away.

$43 for 15% more life is funny. You can get OEM batteries off ebay for under $7 each shipped (or you could last year...) so you can buy about 6 oem batteries for that and get 600% more run time!

It's just not that hard to swap a battery, if you need it.

TheRocoLoco 03-09-2007 10:31 AM

I use a stock OEM battery most of the time, but I also have a 3200mAh extended battery in case I need to go for a long time without a charger.

dping28 03-09-2007 10:56 AM

I cant see carrying multiple batteries around in my pocket through out the day just to keep changing them as i kill em. Thats why I got the extended,. Yes it makes the phone bulkier but it still fits nicely in the stock holster that came with it so its not a big deal to me. and never having to worry bout changing the battery is very nice, dont have to worry bout it dying on you and not noticing and missing a call.

-D

schettj 03-09-2007 01:03 PM

Yep, different strokes for different folks. 2 OEMs (ie, 1 spare) are less bulk and weight then one of the monster brick extendeds, and are ballpark the same mAh - and if I'm doing something that kills the battery I'll notice it. But whatever works.... it just seems that tossing a spare into your backpack (or whatever) doesn't ever seem to come up as a choice, and as far as I can tell it's the cheapest one out there ;)

muska9 03-09-2007 09:53 PM

I'm in the market for an extended battery for my WX. If there's anyone who has one and wants to get rid of it, PM me. Thanx. :)

Jady 03-09-2007 10:27 PM

Got the large brick and it ain't that bad, it actually makes the phone more comfortable in my hand, haven't charged since yesterday morning and Im still at 30% thats much more than double life from my OEM battery.

Jmckinney1976 03-09-2007 10:58 PM

Let's see I have a car, home and two usb chargers for my work and home computers. Could I possibly be away from any of those sources long enough to warrant another battery?
