I too prefer mapopolis. I use it together with my 6700 and bluelogger bluetooth gps unit. the text to speech addon lets me ride my motorcycle blind with no need for viewing the gps screen.

the software is smart enough to warn you about fast coming turns.. on tomtom I get signals like turn right, 1 sec turn left.

on mapopolis it will say "turn right onto pali st then prepare to turn left on to south king".

also I have it set up to speak on key press the statistics of my ride. "you are travelling south on H-1 going 65 miles per hour. your next turn is in 4 minutes, the current time is 12:19pm and your elevation is 800 feet etc.

also with tomtom you need to know the city of what you are looking for. to me that's a no go for a traveller new in town. mapopolis is just the name of the place. also when you key in street addresses it narrows down based on number. awesome program!!! not as pretty as tomtom but 300% more functional in my opinion.

also shows you speed limits in various areas and can chime you for speeding lol.

I use the Seidio mount: http://www.seidioonline.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=290

which works well. It actually came with two mounting plates, one with a suction cup attached and one without, which was cool (the cradle slides onto the mount) so I mounted the standalone one directly to the dash and ran a permanent 12V cord in my Excursion and leave the suction cup one in my wife's car with the 12V adapter.

On the original subject... I use another "obscure" nav program... Infogation Odyssey Mobile (came with my Holux GPSlim 236 from Semsons) and it seems to be fine... never used any of the others so nothing to compare to.

iguidance looks like crap! the only good thing about it is the install process and selecting of states is soo easy and it just copies to your sd card.

i prefer tomtom, although its a pain to install certain states.

Not with Iguidance v4. You have to take the whole US for a 'nice' 1.4gb of wasted space....I think I might go back to v3.01

I use the Pharos one (can't remember model number) with TomTom. The GPS receiver is currently broken as I took a turn a little too sharp when it wasn't secured down well enough. Up til then, they worked great for me!

As for cradles, I too use the Seidio one. It's got audio output, hands free (which I never use thanks to my BT headset) and lets you slide the keyboard out completely if necessary. Little pricey, but worth it if you ask me. Oh, it also has a DC output for charging a bluetooth GPS receiver. I highly recommend it.

Here's the one I got. 14 inches long and wiggles a little but I like it. Suction cup for the windshield and inexpensive. The universal holder snaps into the mount perfectly.

Ok I have a 1gb memory card in my phone. Do I have to have a 2gb stick or what to be able to run iGuidance or TomTom? I was going to purchase the Holux GR 240 slim because it looked very nice, the battery life, and it seemed to perform well in all the reviews i read so now I wonder, are most people using the Holux series of GPS receivers? Are people buying/bought their receivers thru ebay (thats where i've been looking and seemed to find the cheapest)? Again, thank you very much for everyones help. It is very very VERY appreciated!
