Helmi Official AKU 3.5 Kitchen 1.0.1 Bugs / Patches

6 Attachment(s)
Here's a bug collection thread for Helmi Official AKU 3.5 Kitchen, Release 1.0.1. I'm going to try to gather bugs into this first message, so folks don't need to poke all over to find them.

If you just need help with something, or want to offer thanks use the sticky thread.

If you have bug please let us know...
 Please be specific.
 Please provide steps to reproduce.

======================
=== Bugs /w Corrections ===
======================

:!: Optional_Additional_Ringtones

Many of the ringtones are missing the space at the end of their name that allows them to be selected ("Digital01.wav" instead of "Digital01 .wav"). To correct for this...

Pour Elise.wma
Ringer 1.wma
Ringer 4.wma
Telephone ring 2.wma
Telephone ring 3.wma

You will then also need to add the space to the ringtone list in the RGU inside that folder (e54c0e41-3f65-4d9f-b104-4245cc434a86.rgu)

:!: Optional_HTC Home Plugin(WM5) (Non-functional Battery icon)

The green battery icon in the "HTC Today" plug-in is broken. Using it results in the error "The file 'powerexe' cannot be opened..."

To correct for this create a copy of Power.exe named Powerexe.exe.

Some one posted how this could be a Vista thing but I'm running XP Pro.

Any ideas on what this might be?

:!: Time Synchronization

Due to missing files from the Verizon customizations time synchronization won't sync to the carrier provided time.

Even with the appropriate files loaded one must reselect ones timezone post the initial selection in order for the time to align with your timezone.

The images in the "Optional_HTC_Audio_Manager" OEM are all unnecessarily encoded as 32bit PNGs. They can be losslessly encoded as 24/8bit PNGs. The patch below provides updated files that save 401k.

Thanks Kolano--I was hoping you'd be willing to carry the torch for this kitchen as well. Great service :)

I am aware of the Home Plugin issue and will fix in the next release. For now you can either copy the existing power.exe, rename to powerexe.exe and paste back into \Windows (meaning you will have both power.exe and powerexe.exe). Or you can download this zip file and copy both files inside it to \Windows.

Col posted the fix for the Wireless Manager taskbar icon issue.

Fix CommManager issue

Any word on the streaming of Xm from there site. It doesn't work for me 3.3.1 broke it but i haven't had a chance to see what they did with .asx and or wmplayer. With stock verizon rom it works as intended (weird) was hoping you guys (freaking Brilliant) would have had a fix for it in your newest Kitchen build...... Thanks for all your hard work.

My vx6700 has never run better....!

Hello guys,

I'm having reboot issues. It takes 4 and 5 times to get it to come up correctly. I'll make a clean rom and try that. I use all of the spb stuff. spb+, diary and shell in the rom and the rest in the ext rom that I have installed after.

scottishwarrior 07-15-2007 05:22 PM

One thing I have noticed is that when I went from ver. 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 that i get an error for voice commander when you boot. Not sure what could be causing it. I picked the same OEM's on both kitchens.

luv2chill 07-15-2007 05:38 PM

@Scottishwarrior - Voice Command is not a free program. You need to copy in the exe file to the proper OEM folder before building your ROM.

@peacock93 - Yes SPB apps can cause some of that, esp diary. I think diary works better if turn off the auto-sizing option and make it a fixed size.

peacock93 07-15-2007 05:40 PM

thanks luv2chill!!! i'll let u know what happens.

ok, i just left spb shell in my rom and installed the rest of them in my ext. rom after a hard rest. everything seems to work fine now. i'm not sure which one was causing the conflict. when i have time i'll try loading each one back into my cooked rom one at a time to see if i can narrow it down.

scottishwarrior 07-15-2007 06:41 PM

colonel 07-15-2007 06:44 PM

It is because the voice command .exe was accidentally left in the first version. Since this is a commercial app and not freeware, the .exe had to be removed. You need to provide your own VoiceCmd.exe and put it in the proper OEM for Voice Command to work.

mikee4fun 07-15-2007 06:44 PM

I cannot get any of the verizon phone codes to accually program or update the phone I can dial *228 and it dials but you dont get the normal spl unlocked bs. Also can we add the palm teo txt msg client and IM+ to the oem kitchen if possible?

Thanks,

Mikee

Data Arrows Not Working for me

Not complaining (so far so good, only been playing with it for about 30 min) but the active/inactive data arrows thing isn't working for me. They stay in the active (not "greyed-out") state.

I did check FieldTrial and the data state is definitely going dormant. I noticed this immediately after I flashed the new ROM, so nothing should have been making a data call. I do have the regkey "DataAlwaysOn" set to 1, but that shouldn't keep the arrows from working, I wouldn't think. Please correct me if I am wrong.

For reference, mine is an Alltel phone, and I did a very light build OEMwise... all I selected was:

[SYSTEM]
Games (Bubble Breaker, Solitaire)
.NET SP2
Office Mobile
Windows Media
Remote Desktop Mobile

[OEM]
HTC Camera
1-Calc Lite
Adobe PDF Reader
Windows Live Search
Total Commander

[Comm Manager]
New Comm Manager

[Games]
Kevtris

[Voice Dialing]
didn't select any

[Dialer]
Crossbow Dialer
HTC Smart Dial

[Java]
Esmertec

[Carrier Customize (select your carrier)]
Alltel Extended ROM

[Multimedia]
Adobe Flash Player 7
TCPMP v0.81

[Tethering]
Microsoft Internet Sharing

[Keyboard Skin]
eaByte Keyboard Skin

[Shareware]
didn't select any

[Calculator Skin]
didn't select any

[Carrier Customize]
Extended ROM Unlock

[Tweaks]
didn't select any

[Flashlight]
didn't select any

Not a huge deal to me... I don't really miss the arrows. Just thought it should be reported as a possible bug. Otherwise, looks great so far!

Timesync Broken

I have Time synchronization enabled at...
Settings\Phone\Services\Time Synchronization
...but my phone won't sync to the carrier provided time.

I am using the Verizon Carrier settings, and Radio 1.41.

This has been the case for a number of past kitchens as well, and I thought I had heard it was fixed under the 3.3 ROM.

Used *22899 and updated just fine.
Make sure you choose the correct carrier when encoding.

Time sync does not appear to do anything for me either (sprint, updated radio to 1.4.1) - used to work on the old helmi 3.5 kitchen/rom, but I was running 1.27 radio. Maybe its the radio?

mikee--

Sorry about that... I inadvertantly left out the provisioning app from the extrom. I use Sprint so I couldn't test that part of it :D.

I am attaching an updated Verizon extrom to this thread. Would you test it for me please ASAP? I don't want to replace it in the kitchen until I'm sure it fixes the problem. Please first delete the one in the \OEM folder and then copy this one in (it has a slightly different file name so you can't just overwrite the old one with this--you must manually delete it).

As for Palm SMS no I cannot include that in the kitchen but you can easily obtain the file yourself if you want it. Come by the chat room.

As for IM+ is there an OEM already made for it? Is it a commercial app? Give me some details and I will see about it.

luv2chill 07-15-2007 07:17 PM

RE: Time Sync issues--yes it could be the radio. Hopefully more people can chime in as to whether or not that is working for them and what radio version they are running.

For me, time sync works fine on Sprint, Radio 1.41

The Verizon Carrier update seems to have partially addressed my issue. Now the time and date sync, but the time is off by -4 hours. My timezone is set appropriately.

luv2chill 07-15-2007 08:10 PM

Kolano did you try *228... did it give you the SPL unlocked thing?

As for time sync how did you set the time zone? Do you set it using a personal OEM folder or did you set using the welcome wizard, or after the fact from the Clocks and Alarms panel?

Something to try: Go to clocks & alarms, change time zone to something else. Hit ok to save. Then go back in and change to the correct time zone. Is the time now correct? If not, go back into Phone settings Time Sync section and click Update now. Does that work?

Will get to the bottom of this for sure. Just need more info from you Verizon guys :)

I'm in the "GMT-5 Eastern" timezone, since the timezone is set to that by default I've been just leaving it be.

Setting it to an alternate timezone and then back does correct the offset problem.

blazingwolf 07-15-2007 08:27 PM

*228 worked fine for me.

uv2chill IM+ is freeware and has yahoo msg, aol msg, icq, and msn. Here are the attached oem's for both IM+ and Threaded sms. I forgot the app in the earlier post. Thanks dude. I am flashing like mad between service calls. I will try the new oem u put up and let u know how it goes.

luv2chill 07-15-2007 08:48 PM

OK mikee I deleted your attachment (downloaded it first though) because we are not allowed to host the palm sms app here. THat is why I did not include it in the kitchen.

My instructions if you want the working Palm SMS OEM are to visit the chatroom by clicking the chat link above.

I have looked into the IM+ and it is most definitely not freeware. Perhaps JBabey is using a cracked version or including a hacked registration key to get around the trial period? I dunno, but I cannot include that stuff in the kitchen. We are trying to keep our noses clean here. Feel free to include it in your own ROMs (add whatever OEMs you want to the \OEM folder) but I will not include warez in the kitchen.

@Kolano - OK let me do some investigating.

mikee4fun 07-15-2007 08:54 PM

Ah I did not know the threaded sms was not freeware. My bad

saqer 07-15-2007 09:11 PM

i can say that time sync works fine with radio 1.41 and Sprint. Arrows, however, do not change color regardless of theme I choose.

SMS issues

Anybody having issue with the from address in text messages. One from my wife said it was from "You" and I cannot reply to it as it is not a valid from address... Otherwise this is great... Oh also I have sprint not sure if that matters

david279 07-15-2007 10:55 PM

its a toss up between the keyboard skins and clac skins thats causing the arrows and smartdail not to work. i didnt add any of them to my rom and i got the arrows and the smartdailer to work.

colonel 07-15-2007 10:58 PM

Well, do this.....(and anyone else that wants to test). Just build a rom without any of the skins. Verify that the arrows and Smartdial function. Then just add the skins to the phone and see which kills the stuff.

Pir8Man 07-15-2007 11:32 PM

I am trying to run BuildOS, and I keep getting the error
"Error building default.hv and user.hv!"

am I missing something or doing something wrong?

EDIT:
nevermind, I mis-edited a file

Culprit found... in the main thread:

http://www.ppcgeeks.com/helmi-offici...,90.html#64238

Looks like all the keyboard skins have a reg entry that is setting the SmartDialer to disabled...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000

I didn't find it... just passing this along. It's detailed in the other thread.
