Backlit keyboard

So noob question..... ive looked for a setting that makes it so the keyboard automatically lights up when you slide the phone open to reveal the keyboard. i dont particularly like the fact that i have to hit a random key to get it to go on. if there isnt a setting is there a program?

you could always do this registry hack (note: 30secs being the longest it can stay on, and may cause battery life to go down also)

HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\QKeyLedTimeout

oh no thats not what i mean. what i mean is this: imagine your in a dark place and need to send a text message. when you slide the phone open to reveal the keyboard, the keyboard does not light up. so in order to get it to light up you have to a key to get it to light up so that you can see to type. is there a regedit or program that can make so the keyboard automatically lights up when it is revealed?

You know there SHOULD be because I had a PPC-6700 I got from Sprint brand new and it was an old rom. It automatically lit up the keyboard upon sliding it out. I took it back after 3days and got one from online with the newest rom and it does not light up the keyboard upon sliding out. I do miss that feature.

well the first 6700 I had with the white buttons did it. I tried messing with the registry and somehow made it so that the backlight doesn't go off whebi close the keyboard. I changed eveything back. any one know how to fix it. it doesn't stay on forever just until the timeout
