Help with WModem

hi how is everyone?? Wow I just want to say this site is great. I am sorry for being a noob.. I am trying to tether xv6700 wm5 I have it all set up but my connection is super weak. 230 through usb wmodem.Help so I can upgrade to 6.1 thanks you guys are my HEROES ......
