Is it possible to

my friend is going to give me his verizon xv6700 because he got a new phone but the things is that the keypad is locked and he doesn't know how to unlock it. my question is if there is anyway to unlock by reseting or flashing a new rom and if so how would i go about doing that.

any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Hmm... I'm afraid to answer because I'm sure that your "friend" did not get this phone by legal means. I hope that whoever "your friend" is (since he/she obviously stole this phone) gives up and returns the phone to it's rightful owner.

P.S. Please take an English class if you live in the USA.

DopeWeasel, Huh?????

sigma, what do you mean by the keypad being locked? Does it ask for a PIN? Or, does the keyboard not work?

Sorry, maybe I was being a bit crass as usual... I just gather from the original post that he/she is not being completely honest and forthright.

How could someone lock the keypad and not know the unlock password that they set for it? And we're supposed to believe the phone is just given to him? I bet you will see a post from the same person asking about changing the ESN next.

sigma68 06-26-2007 12:56 AM

fuck you dope weasel i don't need to resort to stealing becsuse i'm no low life and all i asked was for suggestions because yes my friend is that that dumb to lose his pin.

Now if it's a hardware issue like the Colonel suggested then this person might actually need our expertise.

True, I apologize for being my usual dick self.

@sigma68 ... just thought I would point out that if you wish to prove yourself to not be a "low life," it's usually not a good idea to swear and call your own friends "dumb" in that very same run-on sentence.

... my 2 cents.

So since there is a consensus here that you should be told... all you need to do is hard reset the device. Search the forums or google for "Hard Reset 6700"

dope have you had people steal your phone before? sounds like a personal issue here haha but honestly i completely understand where you are coming from although i can see his side too, albeit he is extremely fortunate to have a friend just give him (if this is actualy the case and he is not actually buying it from his friend, as sigma didnt go into specifics, its not for us to just assume things) but I gave my gf my bluetooth headset and forgot what its password was...I mean don't get me wrong soemthing you are supposedly unlocking at least once a day is something completely dif than a bt headset code but still...we all forget from time to time. But if the phone is stolen, it would be a shame for the owner not to report it so or at least lost to have the esn locked...however if we do see sigma asking for an esn change then it would lend more credence to your initial assumption and im sure the mods would not hesitate to step in at that point (but you brought up the esn change so now hes not gonna ask here if the phone really is stolen!)

PH

P.S. I swear and call my friends dumb all the time...in the same sentence!! BUT I really do feel ya im just bein a wise ass now ;-)

PPS damn you guys are fast at editing your posts!!!

No, I haven't had my phone stolen but I have been robbed before.

I just wondered if this guy was the mysterious "friend" of sigma68 (posted yesterday):

Dope,

Could be, you never know, and that guy clearly isnt getting any help from pdaphonehome...wow i havent been there in awhile I should go check it out and see if anything new is going on...but yeah, if the phone is stolen/ lost and he/she found it esn has prolly already been reported so he/she is sol and if it hasnt and...well im 99.99999999% sure that if it was found or stolen the esn is already locked out

PH

PS good looking though at pdaphonehome, and way to keep us updated, aaand unlucky about the robbery man I've not been hit that hard but I've had some valuable stuff stolen so I feel ya to a certain level
