xv6700 moisture sticker question.

I have a xv6700 and the touchscreen has stopped working. Before I try to return it to verizon I checked the moisture sticker and my moisture sticker has a bunch of + on it. I assume that means its been been triggered (gotten wet) but I figured I'd check here first.

Re: xv6700 moisture sticker question.

From what I've read, I believe the marks you are seeing are normal. When the indicator gets wet, I believe the red bleeds out of the "+".

Re: xv6700 moisture sticker question.

Actually, the 6700 doesn't have any wet mark indicators. The "+" marks are VOID Warrenty stickers. The older Apache's used to say VOID instead of the "+". The wet mark indicators are on the newer phones like the Mogul. There is one on the battery and the main board. They are white and if they turn another color then you're sunk.

Re: xv6700 moisture sticker question.

Here's a pic

I took it with the battery cause I know that has it own moisture sticker. I dont think the + is a void sticker because there is no screw under it, or nothing to seperate it if the phone was taken apart. If anyone with a Verizon 6700 can check their phone that would be awesome.

Re: xv6700 moisture sticker question.

They sometimes put the VOID sticker in different places. There is one on the top screw sometimes. It could have been refurbished and after they're done the put on a new one. No stickers are messed up on yours. Besides. To be 'safe' just call tech support to get a replacment, instead of a store. Always easier.

I've gotten one of the "+" stickers wet befor. They do bleed out. I also had one of the devices with the original "void" sticker... When it got wet, the void stayed on.

(I've ruined a few 6700s.)

Maybe as newer devices came out, HTC added the "+" sticker to act as both a moisture detector and void indicator.

Re: xv6700 moisture sticker question.

It did, There are two different hardware versions of the 6700. Though they look very simular. The way you can tell is one has RED keyboard lights and the other has BLUE.

Thanks. I'm going to the store in hopes of getting a free upgrade to the 6800.

I was going to just get the touch pro, but after playing with it for a while the screen is just to small. Damn shame too.

Re: xv6700 moisture sticker question.

No, you are more likely to get an upgrade from Tech Support. You can sweet talk a lady into giving you one. Oh and did you buy your Apache from them? If not you might have a hard time...
