Exclamation Bricked my phone.. can you guys help!!

hi,
I tried to make the leap today and get the ROM updated, so went to ppckitchen.org, got the buildOS, updated it to the latest, and used it to build a new ROM.
Once I got the build completed, it prompted for the flashing, and I connected my phone and started it..It gave me my current settings and pointed to the upgrade version, but when I clicked next, it gave a message that there was a device connect error (it was connected to the same USB the whole time), and my phone ended up in the Serial/USB screen.. tried a Hard Reset to the factory defaults, but it stayed at that screen..

so, now I got the original OEM ROM from here (thanks for that), and am running it now.. it basically is stuck at "Stage 1: Updating Radio. Please wait..." message for the last 15 minutes now... is this normal? Can you guys please help me get my phone atleast back to WM5? Any other options I can try?

My OS is Vista 32-bit if that makes any difference.. the phone is showing a message of Upgrade, Radio Stack, Please Wait on 3 lines...

Please let me know,
somu.

NO! You can NOT Brick an APACHE with SOFTWARE! Read my thread here on how to make sure your experience with the ktichen on Vista will be flawless. Enjoy and let me know if you need anything else.

Re: Bricked my phone.. can you guys help!!

you are a life saver PDAPhoneJunkie.. turning off the USB connections in WMDC seemed to do the trick. I unchecked, that, built the ROM again, and this time if was successfully flashed.. I have to check and see if I can get my office mail on this, as they implement a security policy on our phones.. but that is not your problem.. I am just glad to get to a point where I am able to make calls and browse the net...

Make sure you turn back on the connections though, I think you might want to sync again right? Lol.

Re: Bricked my phone.. can you guys help!!

Maybe the bigness and the hardness of the Apache is what makes in unbrickable. Lol.

Because of the unlocking and SPL changes, the newer devices are more at risk for bricking when trying to do stuff like going from GPS to Non-GPS radio. The newer devices have more chips, and other things like that to be at risk for bricking. All we change on the Apache is ROM Images and Radios that are all the same type. On the Mogul and Vogue etc. we change more things that can cause more harm...

Re: Bricked my phone.. can you guys help!!

yeah, I actually was using WMDC on another laptop that I don't normally use for this purpose, so my initial sync settings are all still valid and I did finish the initial sync to get my contacts and stuff back... am loving the new UI, and I was able to get my office mail connected also... so, thanks again!! I don't have to spend money on a new phone now (atleast for a little bit :P)...

Haha. I said that one time as well. And when I gave my sister a 6700 she goes "What is this? I asked for a phone not a brick". Lol.
