So, you mean to say that when programs install, they don't copy anything to the \Windows directory at all if I ask it to be installed in the storage card? If that is the case how do I restore the shortcuts using the config.txt approach? Any other approach recommendation is also welcome. -AR |
Yes, if you install stuff to your SD, it should all be installed on your SD as far as I know. There may be some exceptions.
So, install the cab. Use Total commander or whatever and go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs (or wherever the shortcut for the app is located) and copy the shortcut to your SD. The shortcut should be in the form of appname.lnk. Now, collect these links on the SD in a folder called Shortcuts or whatever you want. Then use the config.txt to copy the link from the SD to the proper file on boot. Example: I just installed a golf game to my SD. I go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games and copy Golf.lnk to \Storage Card\Shortcuts Now add this to your config.txt Code:
CPY1:\Storage Card\Shortcuts\Golf.lnk |

Colonel,
Wouldn't you still have problems with missing registry entries doing that method? Nmeister's method sounds like it would work. |
yeah, you are right. That was just off the top of my head. I never need to do this.
I think luv2chill was telling me one time about keeping stuff on the SD. I will check with him to see what he does. |
