Big D5 Max Storage Memory AKU 3.5 Beta

FOR SPRINT PPC6700 ONLY

This is cooked in the Apache WM5 AKU 3.5 Unified ROM Kitchen Release Version 1.0.0, so thanks to all who contributed to this and made this Kitchen such a simple process. Also thanks to colonel for answering some questions for me and JBabey for fixing my Bluetooth

The reason for this AKU ROM is I cant find just the right combination for me, all the new ROMS that have been produced by all the goorooz here have some great add ins but nothing fits all my needs. We are all individuals so I have made no choices for you, you have the memory available to pick and chose your own up grades. I only want what I want everything else is a waist of memory. There are no customizations in this ROM just took everything out that I feel is not needed, in an attempt to free up as much memory as possible. I don’t use the CF 2.0 or any programs that need the CF so its not in there but if you do just add it, you have the memory there to do so. I like to use 1 cal, so the oem calculator is a redundancy so its gone. Want games add them because there are nun in this ROM, and choose your voice command, Cyberon is gone. All the other stuff I removed you wouldn’t use any ways, but in case you are missing something just add it. The extended ROM is empty so it can be unlocked and you can use the extra space for whatever, I load all non-system programs to this location.

How to install:

If you are currently run the original Sprint software and have made no AKU changes to your device you can skip step one. Step one is to make sure you have a complete wipe of any other AKU updates and to insure a clean install.

1) Run the Sprint 2.x OEM AKU first, find it in downloads on this page http://www.utstar.com/pcd/view_phone...&bID=30&sAct=0
2) After the Sprint AKU, install and run the rom unlocker and delete everything in the extended ROM folder, yes everything. To unlock the extended ROM just transfer the cab and execute files, in the ROM unlocker file provided to the Apache either by adding the file to a storage card (preferred) or by adding the files to my documents using ActivSync, than run the cab install to the device than the execute, will be followed by a dialog box saying success. Soft reset and the extended rom will appear in file explorer as Extended ROM2.
3) Hard reset, hold both soft keys and rest button at the same time
4) Put the Apache in boot loader mode, hold the power and record buttons and push the reset button all at the same time.
5) Run the Big D5 custom ROM
6) Hard reset when the update is completed
7) To connect to the data on your device you will need to create a modem connection so don’t panic if you cant get to the Internet. Just go to Start/settings/connections/connections/Add a new modem connection under name, put Sprint, select a modem use cellular line, chose next enter #777 chose next leave everything blank no need to put in a user name or password, chose finish. When you first go to the Internet or sign on to data it will ask you to enter the user name and password just leave blank and this information will be added automatically by sprint at sign on.

What I put in;

1) WM 6 theme
2) JBabey AKU 3.5 Bluetooth fixes
http://ppcgeeks.com/aku-3-5-bluetoot...les-t5105.html

What I took out:
1) Calculator
2) Games
3) Clear storage
4) Field trial
5) Enroller
5) Cyberon Voice command
6) EPST
7) MSN

Results
37.27 MB of storage in device at start up and an empty extended ROM (10 megs of free storage)

As usual this IS A BETA so update at your own risk, I am responsible for NOTHING. Post any issues here and I will help you. ENJOY

Please keep post limited to discussion of this AKU, its function and issues, so I can continue to make a better more stable product thanks. The discussion of how memory is used and relates to the AKU have been moved to Explanation of memory usage in an AUK update

Thanks Dave~

I have been running this for a week now and have found a bug, an intermittent connection problem I believe this is inherent to the unified rom kitchen used to make this rom I am currently adding some items to test and will be releasing an updated version. In this week of use by me and several other testers this AKU version has been very stable few soft resets needed and no lockups. All my soft resets are related to the connection problem.
A quick run down of what I have loaded

The programs loaded to the Extended_ROM2

After a soft reset and a quick run of MemMaid this is my available storage memory, This is with all my PIM and email etc...

My Extended_ROM2 currently is at 3.64 megs so there is plenty of room for more programs. With my non-system programs loaded to the Extended Rom2 storage space I have no storage card wake up problems so fewer lockups and I can change storage cards without loosing any program functions. ''

Which UTStarCom file is the Sprint 2.x OEM AKU to which you refer?

It may not make a big difference, but there seems to be two Sprint OEM files that are downloadable. (Why do we have to flash back to 2.0 first - doesn't flashing wipe everything out?)

The two files are named:

APAC_SPCS_20600_300_11200_Ship.exe
and

APA_SPCS_20600_303_12700_WWE_Ship.exe

I assume we should use the 303_12700 version?

Also, I see you took field trial out. If I wanted to install this later, where would I find it?

APAC_SPCS_20600_300_11200_Ship.exe is the correct install, also if you have not previously upgraded you can skip step 1. The first step is to insure a clean wipe and install for those who have installed one of the other great AKU updates available here at PPCGeeks.

Tempting, I am using BigJ 1.6u "clean" now. But I am with you on your theory, it bugs me to know I have space being taken up with programs I will never use. The obvious downside is it takes longer to setup each time with a ROM like yours, but allows easy upgrades of the programs I use.
Thank you for posting it.
