Good Contacts/Texting app with 6.1

I have been using PocketCM, but with 6.1 I am having issues with it: extremely slow conversation loading and hang ups.

The OEM threaded SMS is nice, but seems to be a little slow on your keypresses to displaying the letters on screen. Kinda annoying.

I like the pocketCM for contacts though, the built in contacts manager is terrible. However, if there is an app that works well and does both texting and contacts I would gladly replace it.

Usually the SMS on 6.1 is slow because people have thier word suggestion enabled and it bogs the device down. Try Start -> Settings -> Input -> Word Completion and uncheck Word Suggestion. Also if you do not have any signal it will bog your device down.

yeah i have both of those issues haha. Disabled the word completion, thanks for the tip.

Also do you find that installing programs to the SD card slows down the device? I have things like phone alarm and today agenda installed on the device, but I put live search and my pharmacist software on the SD card, seems to slow things up a bit.

Most good and well used apps should be installed in main memory. If there is an app that also has a Today screen icon or shortcut then that ap should also be installed in main memory. If not then these apps will slow down and could lock up the device.

If you want, tell me what apps you have on your card and I will tell you if they can be there or should be in main memory.

I have Phonealarm, TodayAgenda installed to main memory

On the SD card I have LiveSearch and Tarason Pharmacopoeia (pharmacist reference to look up drug info) takes up about 9MB rounding up.

One thing I really notice is when I restart my device, my first press of the Start menu hangs for a minute or more sometimes. its EXTREMELY frustrating, especially if lets say someone comes into the pharmacy to ask me if a drug is safe during pregnancy so I go to look up the pregnancy category and end up looking like an idiot yelling at my phone.

Just today my phone locked up saying out of system memory but I seriously had no programs running besides maybe SMS... really weird anyway a restart fixed it.

Even if apps are closed they may still be running in the background and the only way to stop them completely is a memory manager

yeah i know, i use the close all in phonealarm and then oxios. The phone is REALLY slow in WM6.1 and locks up pretty much every time I ignore an incoming call as well. Its terrible, I'm going back to wm5... seeing how that goes.

Since you are going back to 5, try this ROM here and I promise you will like it. It is for VZW.
