Yep it sucks to see them porting for so many gsm devices. I have turned my 6700 into a rather large flashligh many a time by trying the different roms for them just to see if I could get anything...

Run Filemon (downloadable from www.sysinternals.com, recently aqquired by Microsoft). Then run the MSI with the update in it, if you look at filemon you will see the MSI extracting nk.nbf to a temp directory. Before closing the MSI out, just copy it to the desktop or where ever and there you go. An extracted rom from the install/upgrage pack.
From there, follow the sticky instructions posted by wideawake and use the tools he provides to extract the files from the nk.nbf. If been trying to create a WM6 rom for the 6700 by actually working through a WM6 install. I havnt had much luck thus far, but seriously all it is is a bunch of files and reg keys that just need to be installed properly, time to figure it out. Also, it might be a good idea to follow the same steps with a vanilla 3.5 rom and do some comparison. Not sure if anyone has tried this alreay, as I dont see the community to involved in figureing out how to get the WM6 thing to actually work on the 6700. Good Luck, post if you have any success. |

I already tried extracting the MSI, all I see in there are the updater and a temp.dat. I am going to try to convert the temp.dat to nk.nbf, and see if I get a flshlight.
Well no flashlight, but didn't do anything either. Oh well back to the drawing board. |
